So, what will the Jets Morressey get?
Over under on the 3 game Kadri special?
That was a wicked cross check, right to Staal's head.... |

Why do opposing fans expect objectivity on team broadcasts?
It's the Bruins' feed. Of course the dude is cheering for the Bruins. His salary is paid by the Bruins. - Atomic Wedgie
Yeah, we wouldn't expect anything different from, say, Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson |

I agree. And there are levels of attempting to be somewhat rational and fair in one's job. I get that he works for the Bruins and so I am ok with him having a Bruins slant. It's to be expected. He goes above, beyond and further than that, which makes him the worst of his kind. |

Hughson is brutal as well. Sam Rosen is awful. The former Pens play by play guy was terrible. Nobody is as bad as Edwards. |

As I fan, I would find it very annoying very fast if my announcers were cheering too much.
Having said that, I do love Joe Bowen, and nobody has ever accused him of not being 100% behind the Leafs. |

Somebody (from another fan base) was in here the other day complaining that Craig Simpson was a Leafs homer.

Well, I for one need to know. I have my "league is biased against the Leafs" and "10+ games was appropriate" posts ready to go depending on the outcome. |

I get many away broadcasts because of where I live. There are a handful of guys that while it is clear they are the home announcers for their teams, they are still very fair and they come across as professionals. It's nicer to watch with them announcing. |

He's so monotone and homerish, not sure how he ever got a job doing play by play. |

What exactly is the problem with him posing with money?
He's young and a millionaire. He was in Vegas. He posed with money.
Why am I supposed to be outraged by this? How does this reveal some flaw in his character? - Atomic Wedgie
It is in line with the purported arrogant, me-first, me-only attitude that seems to have been the case in Winnipeg.
... and he first did it during a labour dispute did he not? |

I can't stand the announcers who seem to struggle with comprehending some simple rules of the game. Edwards is the worst because he is definitely knowledgeable about the sport but for whatever reason becomes a full on moron baboon who doesn't know the rules when he feels the Bruins get slighted.
Actually, the worst part about him is that he fully epitomizes a Bruins fan. When things are going well and they're dishing out the dirty plays they are the toughest, meanest, revolutionary war-iest badasses out there. When that gets turned around on them he acts like a toddler in Walmart who isn't getting BOTH toys. Biggest whiny turd. |

Trade our #1 D-man plus more to maybe get another #1 D-man.
I can't see that type of deal being a win for us.. |

in my pool I went heavy with Jets and Broons
Boston was an easy pick, if they lose in rd 1..well then that means the Leafs beat them. If they win..well its good for my pool. |

I think the Raptors guys are exceptional in this regard. Sure when there is a huge block or drained 3, they shout and get excited. What I respect though, is that they analyze the WHOLE game, both teams, praise ALL the players when it's deserved and critique ALL the players when it's earned. |

Full disclosure: I grew up listening to Paul Morris as the Maple Leaf Gardens P.A. announcer. Full monotone, which every Leafs fan of a certain age can still hear in their heads:
"Goal scored by number 27, Darryl Sittler. Assist by..."
Having said that, the thing I find the most franking annoying is homerish P.A. announcers.
And there is absolutely nothing franking worse than "...the PECO Powerplay!!!!!!!!"
Seriously, shut the frank up. |
