I don't think we need Carlson is we still have Rielly, Gardiner and Dermott... I don't think we need 4 offensive D-men. Point was, that it could be done and stay under the cap..
As a poster mentioned earlier, Sustr out of Tampa would be a good. I like this idea. - PatC80
I doubt that they trade him, but he'd be alright. I would love to get Trouba,I have a feeling they might look to trade him this offseason.
I am wondering if the Jets are going to get worse very soon. They have a bunch of long contracts and some of their key players are up after next year for contracts. Wheeler(UFA), Laine, Myers, Connor, Enstrom(likely they let him go), Morrisey, and Hellybuck(RFA this year)
How much is Wheeler going to cost as a UFA. People were concerned with the Leafs cap space, well the Jets are going to have some big decisions.

First thing they are doing is calling Philly to see if they want Steve Mason back or the Islanders.
Leafs' best bet to make a significant upgrade on D before the season starts without selling the farm is to try to pry someone out of Carolina at the draft, I think. - TheMussel
I'd go after Hanifin, Fleury, or Slavin. I do not want Faulk, we have similar players.

What reasoning do you use that he'd be the captain next year? Lunacy - burn
Probably the same reasoning used to think trading Nylander for Montour was a good idea last summer. Or the same reasoning used to try and preemptively blame a game 3 loss on a 16 year old girl because she doesn't sing the anthem the way he likes.

Don’t understand how there isn’t a call there. Guy probably won’t even get suspended. But Kadri gone for three. - iTOLDu
it's kinda ridiculous ...
a) Leafs... which get some kind of different treatment... I believe its the refs and league officials not wanting to appear to have a Toronto bias... so they OVERCOMPENSATE
b) Kadri should start to quietly play the muslim card... there has to be some reason he's targetted so regularly and seemingly unevenly by the league... not saying its because he's a muslim - but everyone seems to play the race/religion card whenever it suits them... the NHL isn't most progressive league... they wouldn't be prepared for this
c) time Shanahan to simply take the pressure off his players and coach... "what the f___ is the league doing about the inconsistency in the officiating - there's ton's of amo

LOL, no one besides maybe a super desperate Islanders team would do that. Even Snow has his limits. The Mason contract is gone after next year anyhow, its the following year that will be bad.

They have some good internal replacements developing. Maybe nobody to take over Wheeler's contributions fully quite yet, but Enstrom likely won't be missed.
Roslivic should get better. Appleton and Niku named to AHL first all star team this season. Looks like their pipeline is going to provide fresh talent for a while yet. Like Edmonton but the complete opposite.

I really do hope that Tom Dundon does have that fire sale.. I like the idea of Noah Hanifin on the Leafs

i understand that since uggie is 14y old, everyone is 'old'to him
however kovalchuk (if leafs cannot sign tavares) would be a significant upgrade over jvr (and hypothetical e kane) - MaximusAurelius
No kovy wouldnt. Leafs arent signing him anf hyman will not be captain.

Both are going to sign contracts this summer that the team will regret within the first year or two... and the pain is going to last well beyond that. - Aetherial
So, what's your excuse for not watching the game tomorrow...
