Hexy has cap room and prospects ready to play, he cant go out and sign a vet who can't contribute this time. He no longer can take a garbage contract like Lehtera to get more draft picks. He needs better then a Weise signing this summer. The core off this team has been established.

The Pens are just better, that’s no surprise. What is a surprise is how passive we are about it. We are an extremely easy team to play against, the hardest check of this series was in practice.

Overall, I am disappointed most with management and coaching this season. Not giving rookies more and bigger roles, the pk (again)and pp, Hex getting awful goalies, poor trades, mind boggling roster and lineup moves, and bad signings. There is no accountability in this organization.

The goalie situation is awful. I commend Hexy for going out and drafting a ton of them but even he knows how long it takes for them to develop. Enough with the band-aids.

Next season will be Hextall's fifth season as GM and season four for Hakstol. For me personally after a series like this, I would fire Hakstol. Coaches have been fired for a lot less. This looks like a less than inspired team. We're in the playoffs. Why aren't we playing like it?

As for Ron Hextall, show or go!

I absolutely buy into Patrick, Konecny, Provorov, Sanheim and Morin someday being important players for this team. No doubt in my mind. At the same time, what has been done for example to improve this team's depth? You finally got Vinny LeCavalier out and Chris Vandevelde out. Where is the focus and improvement in the bottom six? What is our identity if you want to drop the old broad street bullies identity?

I don't even recognize the Philadelphia Flyers anymore. There is no fight in these guys...and it's sad.

That’s the only thing that sucks. They are getting embarrassed. But it’s teaching them that in the playoffs, if you don’t come to play, you get crushed.

Agreed on your first point. I'm very frustrated that they mailed it in. I wanted them to make the dance to get the experience but I thought it'd be more competitive than this has been. Really surprised. I'm hoping they learn something, because I kind of think you have to put a decent effort forward in order to truly see where you are and learn.

I am fine with Hextall not dealing away youth. I do think he could be doing a lot more to help the current roster. His free agent track record is not good. His trades...none jump out and say, wow, I like that move. I mean less then 1 calendar year ago The Vegas Golden Knights didn’t have a single player and yet they are more of a cup contender then the Flyers who will now enter year ? of a retool.

Your question lacks relevance. What's lethally relevant, for Read and the Flyers, is that you can't be guilty of a weak stick infraction. My God, even the homer-ish Morganti (when not on WIP) called out Read for the miscue. Neutral zone. Minor battle. Relatively safe area.

Now, all due respect, illuminate me as to how I have this wrong. Bad call? Coincidental minors in your opinion? How do I have it wrong?

ehhhhh is outright tanking innovative?

The Leafs were hot trash for so long then finally decided to gut the entire organization and were lucky enough to draft an Auston Matthews who immediately became their #1 center. Marner is another great pick but he wasn't really gifted top 6 minutes right away if i remember correctly. even this year Babcock had him on the fourth line for a while.

I think Hexy is a terrific evaluator of recognizing prospects to draft. However, now is the time for him to prove he can build a contending Cup team with free agent signings and smart hockey trades. We 're at the point where the retool has to be over and being a consistent contender should be starting. A very important summer.
