I would agree. Not sure why many on this thread seem so pissed off. Was just a bad matchup. (somewhere CLB is chuckling) Very few people expected Philly to win this series. I could easily sense a Philly victory on friday that atleast pushes this to six. Should all in all be considered a good season for you guys. The young D learned their lesson and should be great next year - DeflatedPucks
The Pens are better obviously, but the Flyers are basically rolling over and letting them do what they want. This is not competitive hockey. |

I don't agree with you. A 7th defenseman who can fill that bottom 5-6 spot consistently isn't a 7th defenseman. He's a 5-6 defenseman. Manning would be fine as a 7th and probably one of the better 7th defenseman in the league. - MJL
OMG....in the league...holy (frank)....I hope the (frank) your just trying to be funny.

That to me was the most important development. It was good to see they didn’t waste career years by Giroux, Jake, and Coots by getting in, but the long term growth of the youngsters with playoff experience in hand, will only benefit everyone next year. |

Painful. Sickening. Nauseating. Even worse that it comes at the hands of the Evil Empire (welfare-enabled franchise).
It will be a capital offense if Matt Read returns next year. For any price. Shameful performance on his part tonight. All that talk about not taking penalties and that hold was a disgrace. My God, if you're going to put them on the power play, it should be a felony or taking away a golden scoring chance.
Flyers broadcast team such a joke, too...Morganti repeatedly bemoaning the penalty and won't name Read specifically. - Brad Marsh Fan
Question for you, how did the Pens players's stick get up at Read's waist?

I see similarities between the flyers and flames. Granted they missed the playoffs, but they have young F surrounded by a few veterans and you guys have up and coming youngsters on D surrounded by veterans up front. Both teams are a goalie and a coach away from being solid contenders. Maybe Hakstol follows Glen Gulutzan out the door (just don't hire gulutzan instead) |

Oh, so you have do something original to be a forward thinking organization. An organization who core principle is to draft and develop young players isn't forward thinking. That's backwards thinking because it's not original.

I know everyone is on this lets be patient bullpoop.Lets be patient like the oilers, sabres, coyotes etc.You need some balls to build a winner.Hextal left his in his jockstrap when he retired.Enough with the company line.Homer took this team from worst to a semi final in 1 yr.You can get better by getting the right FA.I know Homer also did stupid poop but atleast he tried.Hextall doesnt seem to have an imagination.Wont be long before he gets fired mark my words. |

Next season will be Hextall's fifth season as GM and season four for Hakstol. For me personally after a series like this, I would fire Hakstol. Coaches have been fired for a lot less. This looks like a less than inspired team. We're in the playoffs. Why aren't we playing like it?
As for Ron Hextall, show or go!
I absolutely buy into Patrick, Konecny, Provorov, Sanheim and Morin someday being important players for this team. No doubt in my mind. At the same time, what has been done for example to improve this team's depth? You finally got Vinny LeCavalier out and Chris Vandevelde out. Where is the focus and improvement in the bottom six? What is our identity if you want to drop the old broad street bullies identity?
I don't even recognize the Philadelphia Flyers anymore. There is no fight in these guys...and it's sad. |

That highlighted part is ridiculous but it doesnt matter..
Gudas is the whipping boy now vs HExy. - opeth_pa
It was a tongue in cheek comment. Obviously he didn't do it on purpose, but I am frustrated that this happened. Basically ended the series. I think either gudas could have been more cautious, or maybe the coaches could have designed drills that weren't concurrently operating so close together.
I clearly offended some, so very sorry. |

The Pens are just better, that’s no surprise. What is a surprise is how passive we are about it. We are an extremely easy team to play against, the hardest check of this series was in practice.
Overall, I am disappointed most with management and coaching this season. Not giving rookies more and bigger roles, the pk (again)and pp, Hex getting awful goalies, poor trades, mind boggling roster and lineup moves, and bad signings. There is no accountability in this organization. |
