It’s simple. Hakstol likes Hagg as a player. He likes him so much that he played most of the regular season.

But the coach doesn’t like the combo of Hagg and Manning/Gudas. So the only thing that makes sense is to bench Hagg in favor of the lesser dmen.

- StepfordSam

When Hakstol was first brought in here, all I heard was how he was this great development coach. Hagg is developing well from the press box.

I think the Flyers will win on Friday.

I hope so. Need to try to give the home fans a better memory than this in a Game 6

For all you delusional bobble heads, this franchise isn’t winning poop any time soon. And you can take that to the (frank)ing bank.

You don’t need to overreact and sign big ticket free agents to make the team better. They’ve been extremely quiet and underwhelming in free agency. They need to start thinking about building up the team around the younger players.
- funmaster18

What's going to build this team up is the young players getting better. For example, we heard all season that Gostisbehere/Provorov is a #1 pairing. They played well and had a strong season but do they look like a #1 pairing against the Pens? They're not there yet. Patrick is not there yet, Sanheim, and Konecny. All will be better next year. I think they should go out and get some supplemental players for the right price if they can, such as possibly a center as a stop gap that can kill penalties to replace Filppula. Overall though, I don't agree that they should take an aggressive approach in the free agent market. .

Is this the same sound logic he used to send Read to the Phantoms then immediately play him on the top PK unit?

I mean theyre out and out wasting G & Jake's prime years if that's the case. It's still gonna be another two years before the goalie even gets here.

What does hakstol even say to the team after that embarrassment....
- Bigjohnston

Nothing. He's going with his gut. Tell the media he's not changing anything for Game 5.

His "popcorn" game need some work. With a full summer of training Hagg fully expects to be the next Orville Redenbacher

Bingo!

Taking the plunge on a top forward or top dman who may be available in FA will not be the worst thing for this teams future. Sure salary cap has to be maintained, but do the Pens look like they care about the salary cap? They still trade every year, sign free agents every year. Since Hexy has been here what has he done to make any kind of splash in a notable free agent signing?

would be cool to make the Pens fans sweat a little
- Mordecai

I really can't see it at all. So, we can't kill a penalty, our idiotic dman decides to put our 1c out til next year and the entire team goes through the motions tonight. Can't put hagg in for manning? What would it hurt?? Dear god. Pathetic and embarrassing top to bottom.

Really like all the young guys, but I'm on board with moving some vets like Simmonds. The dead weight coming off the books may really help us

Yes, building through the draft is very innovative. First in history to consider this approach

The only thing i feel warm and fuzzy about and looking forward to this off season is how well Patrick progressed thru the season and into the playoffs. I think he has been the best Flyer in the playoffs. I remember at start of season how slow he looked a lot of the time, you look at him now, and he is getting stronger and quicker and seems to be getting good scoring chances almost every game.
- Buzzo

And Konecny turning into a hell of a player. The way that Ghost has started to round into form in his all around game. The way Sanheim has looked since coming back up. I can go on.

The fact that they are getting demolished doesn’t change the fact that their future is bright. They are getting schooled by the two time defending champs, that is what it is. I wouldn’t throw away all the good from this season (98 points) and the lesson they are learning about the playoffs right now.

But that’s just me.

I hope Simmonds sits out the last game. I hope I just watched his last game as a Flyer. Utter embarrassment.

If you're hurt that bad man up and move over for someone who can do something.

7th depth defenseman should be a player you can rely on to come into games when needed and help your team, not hurt them. And from what I have seen from Manning, he hurts this team. I want a 7th d man who can step in and fill that bottom 5-6 consistently and just play average minutes and make simple plays. Manning is a dumpster fire back there. He ha snot worked out, so why keep going with the status quo? Things need to change, and if its Manning it will not be the end of the world.
- Buzzo

I don't agree with you. A 7th defenseman who can fill that bottom 5-6 spot consistently isn't a 7th defenseman. He's a 5-6 defenseman. Manning would be fine as a 7th and probably one of the better 7th defenseman in the league.
