Is it too early to say the hanging of the jersey in the locker didn’t work? |

In my opinion what it doesn't look like is Hextall going out and spending on big ticket free agents. Hextall is smart enough not to overreact and to stay the course. - MJL
You don’t need to overreact and sign big ticket free agents to make the team better. They’ve been extremely quiet and underwhelming in free agency. They need to start thinking about building up the team around the younger players. |

He was supposed to be a 7th defenseman this year, and look what happened? I don't want him as a seventh defenseman or an 8th, 9th what ever. Look for another defenseman if you think you need a vet presence as depth in case of injuries etc. He should be nowhere near this team next season. If he is then it shows to a lot of people Hexy values crap way to much on this team. - Buzzo
He simply been bad the second half of the season....it’s not like he is going to be any better next year...why the (frank) would Hextall feel the need to sign this guy for? Move on. |

It’s simple. Hakstol likes Hagg as a player. He likes him so much that he played most of the regular season.
But the coach doesn’t like the combo of Hagg and Manning/Gudas. So the only thing that makes sense is to bench Hagg in favor of the lesser dmen. |

I am sure there are...there should be someone out there. But I think the trade market might work, too
They need to recognize that this just isn't gonna work. I think they are a good team. There is room for them to get better.
The recency bias of this series is frustrating.
But they have to recognize they need multiple forwards and at least one legit defenseman. This cannot be a "hope and pray" offseason.
They shouldn't waste money. But they have to do something

What happened is young defenseman such as Sanheim and Morin weren't ready earlier in the season. When I say I'd take him back as a 7th, it's as a 7th. Meaning he only plays in case of injury. You can do a lot worse than Manning as a 7th. The idea that he should be nowhere near this team next season is nonsense. He's fine as a depth 7th defenseman. - MJL
7th depth defenseman should be a player you can rely on to come into games when needed and help your team, not hurt them. And from what I have seen from Manning, he hurts this team. I want a 7th d man who can step in and fill that bottom 5-6 consistently and just play average minutes and make simple plays. Manning is a dumpster fire back there. He ha snot worked out, so why keep going with the status quo? Things need to change, and if its Manning it will not be the end of the world. |
