1. Trade Simmonds.

2. Trade one of Voracek/Giroux. Should have been 2-3 years ago, so the prospects they get could have grown.

3. Stop hiring meaningless fill ins like Filipula, Elliot, Gudas, etc. etc. Play the kids or play the scrubs.

4. Combine the 2 picks for this year + something and see if we can get a sniper like Zadina.

My biggest issue right now. Why the (frank) is Hagg not playing. Complete bullpoop. Wont't make a difference in the series but Manning isn't going to be here when they are real contenders. Get Hagg the experience.

It’s not always a proven way, that would be my only real argument.....I also think its disengenuous to suggest that Hextall can’t be doing other things to help this team...so you don’t trade away young assets....is that a reason to have guys like Filpula, Lehtera, Weise, Manning ?
Being clear ...Hextall has helped build a super solid prospect list, but he has not done a great job bringing in decent vets to bridge the gap...hopefully they make moves this summer to address the issues...because this is painful.

Some of the answers are already seasoned with 1 or more years in the AHL. I don't mind continuing going young, but keep playing them when they make mistakes. Mediocre vets got a lot of responsibility especially on the PK with less then average results.

I agree. Let's not get back into trying to buy a team again.

It is pointless to forecast what Hexy's summer should like like while we are in the heat of the moment now. However, I think he has to have his busiest offseason of his tenure this year. It is time to start making the team better. The team is already in position to succeed well into the future.
- bighandsome91

Nothing will change. He won't trade anyone and anyone he signs is going to be old and slow because that's always how the FA crop is nowadays, apart from guys who get max deals.

Anyone else involved on the Flyers in those 10 games, or just Hakstol?

It better be one heck of a 3rd line center.
- MJL

When a boss continues to have the same results with different staff and those results are poor, the boss gets fired. Just the way it works. Eventually they have to produce. You can argue that he isn’t picking his “staff”, but that’s just the way it is

FFS. I hate all Philly sports right now.

THat being said..

It's never a good idea to throw a ton of responsibility and heap it on young players. That's why you have veterans. Veterans like Filppula have served their purpose. Unfortunately he declined pretty severely last year. The acquisition was a good one and helped them buy time so players like Patrick can get stronger. Young players have to seize and take the ice time. Whey they do, stop gap veterans will play less.

Yeah I mean what even are the eagles

And I wouldn't really call facial surgery and a concussion a paper cut, but ok

This is the most important offseason hextall has had since taking over. Not sure how much time he gets if they don’t take a step forward next year

Not sure if you've been here before, but management and the coaching staff are always right and cannot be questioned by us middling fans.

Provy, TK, Patrick all already NHL players and playing in big roles

Hart and Frost still on the way

Plenty of picks coming up and most of the slug contracts are short term

Keep drafting well, let the kids learn and grow together

This season and series against the Pens is very important for the kids and i don't think anyone should be too upset. Sucks to see another year of Giroux's prime pass by but he carried this team all year.

Pens are just better, faster, and more skilled right now

Hakstol's SV% is poor also. Hakstol should've done a much better job at the net on Crosby's goal also.
- MJL

That is why I said I hate philly sports right now and not when the Eagles won.

Cool story. Embiid agrees with you based on his post today.

That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out post.
