The only positive is that Hextall has to watch this mess. Simmonds has to go. Lehtera, Flip, Manning, Gudas, Neuvirth, Read, Weal, Weiss, have to go. That’s a huge turnover.
The flyers don’t have the players in the pipeline to replace those guys.
Hextall will have to sign a couple FA’s and make a positive trade for a young skilled guy or two.

I know the younger folks like the patient approach and accumulating draft picks, and maybe that will make them win and we will all he happy in the end, but I swear it's hard for me to be patient

It’s not always a proven way, that would be my only real argument.....I also think its disengenuous to suggest that Hextall can’t be doing other things to help this team...so you don’t trade away young assets....is that a reason to have guys like Filpula, Lehtera, Weise, Manning ?
Being clear ...Hextall has helped build a super solid prospect list, but he has not done a great job bringing in decent vets to bridge the gap...hopefully they make moves this summer to address the issues...because this is painful.

In two playoff games at home so far they have been outscored 9-1.
We can ignore losing 7-0 in the first game.

Let that 9-1 settle in.

1. Trade Simmonds.

2. Trade one of Voracek/Giroux. Should have been 2-3 years ago, so the prospects they get could have grown.

3. Stop hiring meaningless fill ins like Filipula, Elliot, Gudas, etc. etc. Play the kids or play the scrubs.

4. Combine the 2 picks for this year + something and see if we can get a sniper like Zadina.

Hagg, Morin, Vorobyov, Vecc, NAK etc. They certainly have some in house options.

I was with you until #4. I prefer the shotgun approach to drafting.

It is pointless to forecast what Hexy's summer should like like while we are in the heat of the moment now. However, I think he has to have his busiest offseason of his tenure this year. It is time to start making the team better. The team is already in position to succeed well into the future.
