My money is a lingering concussion suffered when he "dove" into the boards.

Don't like reading that my TML brethren think Plecanek should be back or that perhaps Kadri should be traded. Feels somewhat sophmoric that these notions be floated the day after Leaf's 1st playoff win - without Kadri in which Plecanek played well.

Plecanek has been flat out brutal (until last night.)

Why would you trade a high skill 27-year old 30-goal scorer under team control for 4 more years at $4.5M who has flourished under this coach. (until the other night). Important part of their team. Given that Bozak set to walk, how could you trade Kadri?

Shortsighted talk like this gives Leaf fans a bad name.

As for JVR, would love to see him back, but sure looks like Kapanen ready for a big minutes jump and a jump upward off the 4th line.

- grim

Last night was the first true night Plekanec was really given a specific role other than 11 minutes on the 4th line... and Bergeron wasn't a big factor in the game. If Plekanec is good on Thursday too, maybe it's the role he is given that he arises too.... but I do ultimately think he goes back to Montreal.

Why would anybody take the same total money over 8 years instead of 7? Makes absolutely zero sense!!! There is no benefit to him whatsoever.

He will be 35 at the end of the 7-year deal and assuming he's still relatively healthy he might be able to squeeze out another 2-3 year contract at decent money.

- andyman998

I don't get how you'd think that makes zero sense? It would benefit him 3 ways...
1) he gets most of the money up front (most players want that)
2) its a contract going 8 years - guaranteed money even if he's bought out - what player doesn't want contract certainty?
3) he'll be signing with a team he knows, with a system he's familiar with and contending for the SC for the foreseeable future!

Not to be snarky or nasty, but imagine if someone said to you "what's the most other teams can offer you? $49M over 7 years??? What if I said I can offer you $49M over 8 years?"

Its like he's either losing $1M per year in the deal or he's loosing out on making another deal after 7 years when he's 34 instead of 35.

Hey Ek. You recently talked about suspensions for hits. What’s your take on Spears to the groin like Hedman’s last night? Is the NHL saying spears to the groin are not worthy of discipline?

Plus, he's matching up well against Boston. Part of that is his history with him. The same may not go for the next series of they make it that far

i couldn’t agree more.

remember last season how Kapanen stepped up in the playoffs and scored a couple of big goals? Plus he is fast as (frank) and has some grit like his dad.

I would not love to see jvr back. i think that he is soft as slime.

I hope that he proves me wrong.

I’m sure that he feels the same way

I never said he "should" be traded, I said I have a funny feeling he may be. I think there's going to be a couple moves made by the Leafs this Summer that are going to come out of left field, moves that nobody seen coming. If he's till here at the beginning of the next season, then good.
