Certainly a big part of it. Playing with good players makes other players better. That's a perk of playing with good players. Marner can make anyone look good. I think giving him an important assignment helped to. Someone said it a bit ago, having a purpose helps elevate a game, instead of just saying, okay go and skate for a bit.

But every 5th week we face the team with the best player by far in the league, we all go hard as (frank) to shut him down. And we end up playing a great game every time

In his circumstance, coming to a team he hates, a fanbase he hates...was probably hard to find motivation. Now I think he has it. Which is good news for us

When we traded for Plek, I thought if he's put on the 4th line, it's just 2 way depth and he will basically be invisible...one of those players that if you don't hear his name mentioned during play by play, he did his job...but if he gets put in the top 9, he will have something to offer and prove to himself and the team...I thought to myself this trade will be worthy at one point when he gets that series clinching goal, or blocks a shot and creates a turnover that leads to a series clinching goal...it happens all the time when a player you least expect becomes a game changer in the playoffs with just a single play....I hope this trade becomes worthy.

Took the wife and kids to our local last night to watch the game.

Because we are franking awesome, we all put on our Leafs jerseys.

We arrive, and we are the only ones flying the flag. The place is kinda dead - which probably should have been expected, as it was a Monday night, but still...

Anyhoo, we watched the first two periods, drank a couple of beers and filled out some ballots.

As we left, they told us we had won the prize of the night - a Rielly jersey.

Totally fixed draw, but I'm not complaining.
