Through 3 games, the Leafs best player has been Marner. That kid consistently makes something out of nothing and if JVR walks, I'm not as worried about replacing his goals on the PP because Marner is fully capable of making somebody who costs half the money (if not even less) produce.
The Leafs played two games where they didn't get many bounces and seemed to get all the bounces this game. Andersen made two huge saves but he looked like garbage the rest of the game, letting in some really poopty, weak goals. He was swimming all over the place. But the timely save is what he made and that was the difference between keeping the lead and a 3rd period collapse.
The Leafs D are still throwing the puck away way too often and the Bruins, despite having all the bad match-ups, still produced pressure followed by a steady stream of chances. The Leafs got the win but they still have a lot of work to do.
Plekanec is still poop and Moore looked great. Good to see Matthews get a goal but I still think he's playing hurt. He still doesn't look like the player he usually is, even with the better match-up. |

The first two games by a combined score of 12-4? Yeah, that was pretty sad. But they had a good effort along with some good luck in the 3rd game. |

You don't understand dump in's that should be my trump card right there.
Other than that 2 saves? That's all Freddy did? 2 goals against. But he played sh*t?
Plekanec played a fantastic game tonight. Can he replicate it? Who knows but credit is due where credit is due. |

Oh by the way that timely save, should he have missed it would have made it 4-3. Auto collapse in your fantasy though right? |

The Leafs scored 3 of their 4 goals without using dump ins. Go figure.
He looked off his game, let in a pair of weak goals and was swimming in his net. He made two huge saves but he looked far from comfortable.
(frank) Plekanec and the turtleneck he rode in on. |

If that goal goes in, the collapse is around the corner and you know it. |

They dumped the puck all night, but you're right that anecdotal tidbit somehow proves your point.
Stops 40+ shots but played like poop. Interesting take.

I dunno Marner played a significant role in that line being effective. He is a wizard with the puck. |

Winning tonight was always more likely than winning game 4 regardless of whether they won or lost tonight.
Coming back home they had no excuse not to get the W as their pride was also on the line.
Agree about Matthews not being 100% too. |

I'd go with Brown, Johnsson and/or Kapanen but I wouldn't doubt Leivo scores a few more playing with Marner than without. |

Kapanen is looking like a real gem if he really finds his scoring touch...might get something for Phil after all. |

That's going to be the difference between being a speedy 3rd liner and a top-six forward. But if guys like Marner are giving him tap-ins, he won't really have to be that good. |

They had the 30th and the 31st overall pick. They didn't need to trade Kessel to get Andersen. |

Yes or no, they absolutely without question needed to use that pick or the deal doesn't get done when they already had the 31st pick too?
