If you go back to my first post about it I literally said "I enjoy debating with you"... so I'm legit just bugging you.

I also didn't think Marleau fared that badly. Was it a success? No, but look back at his goals against one was on the wing playing with Matthews the other was actually a not so great change from Matthews Marleau 100+ feet down ice from the play.

Went 6-1 in the dot.

But Santos said it had nothing to do with the players...that the coach was more important to their success.

My argument was babcock had quality teams in front of him which makes his job as coach easier. Santos said that I'm wrong and it doesn't. So he can't argue that because of injury the coach couldn't still be great....It's a little confusing.

Babs had a quality team to coach and the players had a quality coach to be coached by...........which is why they had so much success in their tenure.

I barely remember the previous years honestly, but I thought they made a lot of questionable roster decisions did they not?
Everybody knew the year Babs won gold that that team would be the most structured and defensively adept unit perhaps in the history of hockey.
I agree that a coach can matter a lot and push good teams to do great things, but sometimes, great teams only need a good coach to win.

I don't know how I feel about that from a Leafs' perspective. Not necessarily on the defensive side alone, but because Matthews and Nylander will be lined up with Bergeron, Marchand, and Pasta (who has taken leaps an bounds in his 200ft game this year). My two cents
