Might be nice to get someone on the bank end with a bit of a mean streak.

This is what we lost when Derek Engllend left. Not that I want him back, but at least he would step in for teammates. Besides Gio (who's old balls) and Smith (wrong position, but would) who else would fight on this team? Ferland sometimes, maybe Chucky... but do you want him breaking a wrist?

Yeah the Leafs make a lot of sense as a trade partner for us. They need D, we got D. We need forwards, they got forwards. The question is, what do we get for Brodie if we send him to Toronto? Ideally it would be Marner or Nylander, but I don't think Brodie alone gets us either. A lot of people seem pretty high on Kapanen, but I don't know a lot about the guy and I'd be pretty hesitant giving up Brodie for a guy who we don't really know what he is.

In all honesty, I really don't know what Brodie can bring back, but any guy that can play a 2-3 role, 23-24 minutes a game & can skate like Brodie is what GM's look for.
2 more years at a good Cap hit also drives that value a bit higher. Lets face it, I like Hamonic but he wouldn't have gotten anywhere close to that return if he didn't have (at the time) 3 more years at an amazing cap hit. Brodie's value this summer at draft has the best chance for a return. No way I would do Kapanen for Brodie straight across, but if Leafs threw in their 1st & 2nd this year I can see Tre seriously looking at it. Brodie would be top pairing on the Leafs & probably get the #1 PP time as well. Quite frankly, I see him doing well in Toronto with the type of fast forwards they have on that team.
