Oh, cool, we're debating about guys kneeling for the National Anthem again.

Give it a (frank)ing rest.

I think he meant the lockout year when they made the playoffs and lost in 7.

You stand pat because you have 6 impact positions to fill with veteran NHL players. The only way you can do this is development time.

Don’t lump me in with other Jabronis, our idiot GM made quick fix moves that worked for a short period of time but in the not all that long run cost us. I called it then and I’m calling it now.
I know what I know. The vast majority of Hockey fans think a rebuild is a 5 year process and the vast majority of them are wrong.
What season did you guys trade away Miller?

- Larsson_fan

this implies that the guys occupying the other "impact positions" are actually impact players.

A lot of the evidence would suggest that it's at the very least questionable whether they are. In particular referring to ROR and Risto.

When you lack all kinds of depth, you're bad. When you finish 31st, you're broken. Standing pat would be idiotic

It's quite possibly the most ridiculous thing possible to argue it on a hockey message board but what do I know.

I think ROR, Reinhart or Risto are going to be dealt, less likely Risto. They aren't going to change the makeup and skill type of the top 6 by trading Johan Larsson.
- GilPerreault11

I wrote similarly in last log.
ROR goes - over paid, not strong enough mentally, slow for the system. He ain’t a leader, if he was; a) we would not have heard his comments, b) the salary over payment would be palpable. His words were calculated to get his out of here...I said that first on here, the day afte they were said.

Risto goes - if it is true what Paul Hamilton said about him willingly ignoring Housley, and presumptively Bylsma before, then they simply can’t have it.

Those two should land a boat load, a true treasure trove of assets. We could use that to take giant steps forward.

Sam probably stays based on 2nd half improvement...listening to, working with coaches, putting down the bong....but for how long who knows...that right side is loaded...hopefully he works well with Mitts.

Maybe but do you trade Ristolainen because he’s not a #1 defender or do you wait until you’ve developed someone good enough to push him back to #2? When you have holes in the line up fans tend to judge players on what they don’t bring to the table as opposed to what they do.
The only core player I would consider trading is RoR and that’s due to Age, perceived attitude, and lastly salary.
You guys would be nuts to trade Reinhart or Ristolainen .

This makes sense if Risto was a #2, hes better off on the 2nd pair. So now you're talking about waiting for two guys better than him.

There's still a chance that Risto's value is high enough that you can use him in a package to get a d-man or move him for a haul and work with that.

Edit: i'd also move ROR before the other two, but I think Risto would be the easiest to move/bring back the highest return

GMTM and Chia made staggeringly comparable moves for their teams. They rushed things. None of this is news to us. JB's done the exact opposite. This isn't his core, and they don't fit the style of play he wants. Eventually moves are going to be made.

If that kid was Mexican/Asian/White I would bet dollars to donuts that this isn't in the news at all. I wonder why that is???? (sarcasm)

It's sad really, nobody does anything but complain about it.

There are bad people in this world: white, black, Asian, etc.

There are racist people in this world: white, black, Asian, etc.

I am not going to get drawn into a debate about racism, I am also not naïve enough to think that it isn't out there, I am also intelligent enough to realize the media sensationalizes every little piece of news that has a shock value to it.

Want to know why the double murder wasn't front page news on CNN? It's because it was a black on black crime, want to know why the child molester wasn't front page news on FoxNews? It's because he was a white pastor.

The media is not selling the actual news with actual reporting anymore, they are selling shock value and their political beliefs.

Anecdotal evidence.

You be in their skin one day and tell me if you want to kneel

Try going to a store in their skin and have every single employee look at you to see if you're going to take something

Try being in their skin walking down the street with their Hood up and walking past the cop and they question them

Try being in their skin and driving a nice car and you get pulled over because a cop thinks you stole it

Try walking at night without someone trying to shoot you because you have a hood on ( because they think you're a gangster)

Just be thankful your white

And the player we could of had Boeser, Konecny

I still did not understand to this day why he traded that pick when all the Scouts said that was the deepest draft for impact players

Hysterical!
Why do you make this a race thing. Hater.

So if one ethnic group (in general) is afraid of another ethnic group (in general), what were the reasons for this? It sure isn’t simple by any means. Somewhere in there though is that one ethnic group experienced something to cause that worry they have.

Point is, it all isn’t vanilla and chocolate... there are many variations of twists...I.e. all sides are complicit in the long running problem.

Using the flag and anthem as THE platform is offensive to me...pick another one and I’m willing to truly listen...if others are willing to truly listen

But zad or svech will score 40 as a rookie to make it up...
- jochfr

“Kane is easy to replace”
“We should re-sign Pouliot”

Yeah...
let’s trade ROR & Sam too
We can just replace them with a “Pouliot” who had good pts/60 as a 3rd liner on a good team & expect him to come here,
play an increased role, and make up for their production

Bc there’s William Karlssons & Marchessaults just waiting to be scooped up by us
Those guys aren’t the exceptions...
we can just get Perrault & Armia from Winnipeg and we will be a much better team

Yeah, this is all sarcasm
I might not always be right...
but the above kind of logic is mind-boggling

The whole reason he started Kneeling instead of Sitting was bc he met with a soldier...
and that SOLDIER said that kneeling would be a respectable way to protest

Also...
his kneeling has NOTHING to do with respect, or lack there of, for our troops

It’s utter nonsense

From the oilers? nothing, not unless we're talking about the patented peter chiarelli stimulus package the Devils received.
