Dude, I've gone through three procedure for a 4cm by 4cm staghorn stone, PCNL surgery, which left 4 big stones they couldn't get because of trauma to my kidney., plus a stent. 4 days after surgery i was back in the hospital with fragments stuck in the urethra. 4 weeks after went for shockwave, it didn't work, now I have laser scheduled in two weeks.

Oh man

knowing a little bit about the whole experience... I honestly just want to cry for you right now.

My situation was just a failed lithotripsy and failed ureterscopy then sucessful. I did lose 40% of my kidney that was killed by this stone, even thought it was small (1cm)

Your situation is significantly worse. Good luck to you.

Oh... and another thing...

Yesterday I had a ureteral stent removed after having it in for 3 weeks. It goes from your kidney to your bladder. You have to go to the bathroom constantly and it hurts like a SOB when you go...

I had a (frank)ing wire/thread loop hanging out of my Richard. I couldn't wear pants.

Do you know what it is like when you wake up nearly screaming in the middle of the night because you got a (frank)ing boner and took up all the slack in that wire loop so it felt like it was cutting into you?

How do you think they remove that stent.

It feels just awesome having a 12" stent pulled through your Richard after 3 weeks of that.

So yeah, I am a little (frank)ing short tempered lately.

Damn b'y. That's rough.

I'm actually having a poopty day too, since one of my dogs died literally while I was carrying him to the house from my car after a vet visit when he couldn't stand on his own.

He's had hip problems for a while so when he was seeming down the last few days and having trouble walking much and lost his appetite, I figured he was just suffering a lot of pain there. Delayed taking him for a day, then our vet had to take a family member to the hospital yesterday, so took him today. Turned out he had a serious case of pneumonia and also had a really high fever. Vet gave him some shots to help the fever, and some antibiotics to take, but I guess it was too late.

Pretty poopty situation, but I think I'm still happy I'm not you.

No Cake, having a beloved pet die is just different. Not as painful or frustrating but I wasn't sad. Sadness can be even worse.

what Leafman is describing is significantly more invasive and dangerous and he has a long way to go. My situation (besides losing part of the kidney) was far less serious than his.

A good friend of mine has prostate cancer and has had to have a catheter for the past six plus months while dealing with internal infections. I see the pain he's in and feel for you guys.

I feel for you to. Worst part was after the PCNL, I had tubes stuck in my kidney where they went through to crush the stone, any movement would hurt like hell while I was in the hospital, 4 days they keep those tubes in.

It took ten days for the blood to stop in the urine. The pain made me want to put my fist through the wall.

Sorry all.

It truly is one of the worst (frank)ing things.

My problem is I never felt it. It has been there for who knows how long and slowly was killing the kidney.

I got a UTI last February and my family doctor wanted to figure out why so she didn't just write me a script she started tests... then specialists and scans... and finally a CT scan. If she wasn't on top of her game, I would have lost much more, or all of the kidney.

Lost my dog about a month back (bladder cancer and kidney failure). Died in my arms at the vet, hardest day of my life. He did have a good run of 15 years.

I am glad you told me this because honestly I was thinking I would have rather had PCNL but I never really knew how long the tube got left in. I could not imagine they would send you home with an open tube to your kidney.

I've never been through it, but I know people who have lost pets and they are almost as devastated as losing people close to them.

Thats terrible.

The odd thing was I felt nothing, then one day back in June I developed a really bad UTI, went to the hospital, they said we suspect something else is going on, CT scan showed the stone the whole size of my left kidney.

Downhill from there, lol

If I can get it on this, I broke up with my long-time common law gf and she immediately had a fling with her high school boyfriend from years and years ago, the guy she always said she hated. He's a hipster. Oh yeah, she's an alcoholic. We broke up over Christmas. I didn't really sleep or eat for most of January.

Kidney stones, dead pets, boozed up female genitalia whore ex, Kadri suspension...good times on the ol' Leafy thread tonight!
