you only need four words

"buffalo selects rasmus dahlin"

- Michael Pachla

You're not going to thank the City of Dallas for being such wonderful hosts on NHL Draft weekend?

Or give a shout-out to the greatest sports fans on earth - Sabres fans?

*This isn't meant to bash ROR*

Get a 2nd line that's a threat at EV, and watch teams have to focus on two lines instead of constantly just worrying about shutting Eichel down

On the PP, teams were focused all year on taking his shot away, which contributed to him having only 3 goals there.

I think that’s what the idea was when they started Sam at 3C,
but his wingers were Pouliot & Griffith
Obviously they couldn’t score at all & it just didn’t work
Now it looks like they’ll put Casey in that slot

I mean nobody knows how good Dahlin will really be until he plays in the league but if he continues on the trajectory he is on you would essentially be getting a more offensively crafty Victor Hedman. He would also be 9 years younger then Karlsson. Would be like trading P.K Subban for Shea Weber.
- Pegullaville

It would be more like trading subban for weber and svechnikov. I am in the just pick dahlin camp but if nashville had added a young elite winger in that trade it wouldnt seem so bad in hindsight.

I still take Dahlin. If we happen to pick 2nd or 3rd I pick one of the wingers and move Reinhart for d-help or a LW

A stud winger for Eichel and a top D man for the pick would be nice but they are saying that Dahlin is the McDavid of D men.
- SABRES 89

He’s under contract in Russia for 1 more year...
but we should call Vegas about Nikita Gusev

Best player that’s not in the NHL
(Yes, better than Dahlin)

He’s been lighting up the KHL & was Russia’s best player at the Olympics

Don’t think he will sign with Vegas after they screwed over Shipachyov (his KHL teammate)
So we might be able to get him at a decent cost

That would fix the “get Jack a winger” issue

Im still taking dahlin all day too, but to compare it to the weber subban trade is apples and oranges. I am torn on what to do with reinhart. I just cant get past his lack of speed.

What if Ottawa picks 2nd, and they offered an extended Karlsson and the 2nd pick for 1. I'm not saying for sure make a trade, but they should listen
- jcragcrumple

Can’t extend Karlsson until July1,
which is after the draft
So that scenario couldn’t happen

I guess they could let us talk to Karlsson to get an agreement in place though

But i don’t see why Ottawa would make that trade?
If they’re losing Karlsson, it’s pretty obvious they’d have to go “full rebuild”
Would make more sense for them to pick 2nd,
and just trade Karlsson for a bunch of picks/prospects
That way they get multiple good young players to restart their franchise,
instead of just Dahlin

Ugh... i certainly hope not

Surprised they had to cut him though
No one would give them a pick?
Does he have a super huge contract?

It makes perfect sense he gets back to his Elite status and he signs a big contract in the offseason

I'm guessing Bill Belichick will call him and say hey you saw what Randy Moss did we can make that happen

Dallas may have dropped the ball there, but dez drops a lot of balls on his own too.

Wouldn't mind adding him, I think he's still got some left in the tank. Doubt it happens and attitude doesn't seem to fit the McBeane plan, but who knows.

It's just a hypothetical. All i'm trying to say is, they should keep an open mind about the draft. Just something fun to think about

That said, ff they win the draft, they are 100% taking Dahlin, i know that

Lol, that’s fair

Just surprised they couldn’t find anyone to trade for him

Or was it just that obvious they’d realease Dez, that no one was gonna give up a pick for a guy they could sign for free?

Probably a bit of both. The nfl is weird. Dez wants to get paid, i bet teams dont want to deal with his bs.

Yeah, i get what you’re saying

Idk if there’s a team that would give up a assets to trade form pick 2 to get Dahlin though

But sure, if it’s the right price...
i would imagine it would have to be quite the good young defenseman we’d be getting though

Fair enough. A better comparable might be trading McDavid for Crosby. Regardless you are getting a player with immense potential for a d-man that might regress in his early to mid-30's in Karlsson whose contract will then be a burden on the cap.

Dez walked out saying I'll see guys twice this year, I'm told. So that's that.

Sounds like giants then
