This is exactly why i was championing the idea of trading Simmonds during the last off season.
He was at his pinnacle. 2 years left on his contract. They could have gotten a boat ton for him, as long as there was a team or two interested in him.
Here the Flyers are a year later and they are dealing from a weakened position. - ggunky
I felt the same way, the smart move from both an analytical and a business perspective would have been to move him last summer. You live with the fact that you are weakening your team in the short run, to significantly improve it in the long run. This is how you build championship teams in a cap era.

I would like to know if we are contradicting ourselves or is there another Ulterior motive of puck tting Elliot in and keeping Mrazek out?
Why would you go back to Elliot after not looking sharp in any of his starts since returning but have every excuse in the world to keep Hagg out? Gudas and Manning have been that bad, so the worry is about breaking up their bad chemistry? We're not asking to dig further beneath the well and pull out Oldya.
My question is, our we gonna drop this series out of spite towards Mrazek? Hakstol waited along, long time to pull Elliot in game one. Who played more in that game, Elliot or Mrazek? It was pretty much on display that Mrazek played better.
I think it should be everyone's concern that Elliot drops three games before Mrazek takes over in game four. Which shows once again that Hakstol has learned nothing since his first experience in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
I don't think Elliot will do any worse than he did two nights ago but I do think he's more than capable of allowing 6 in 60 minutes. - SuperSchennBros
I don't think it's spite, I think it is a combo of the following:
1. Mrazek, after his first couple of starts with team has been bad much more often than he's been good and I don't think the players on the ice have any confidence in him.
2. Elliott is likely going to be one of our goalies next year and seems to be a good, veteran influence on the younger players. OTOH, Mrazek will almost certainly be playing for someone else next year as Hextall isn't going to spend 4 million plus to qualify the guy, sign him to a multi year deal and/or give up another pick to keep him.
3. Neuvirth just isn't ready to go. I think Hak wouldn't hesitate to start Neuvirth tonight if he was 100% and ready, but he's not. Neuvy has shown in the past, that when he gets hot, he can beat anyone but it is what it is right now.
Personally, I'd probably go with Mrazek, mainly because I think he at least gives you a slightly better chance to win if he can get hot, but at the end of the day, I really don't think they are going to win this series no matter who is in goal so I can understand the reasoning behind staying with Elliott tonight. |

Holy frank, your team got embarrassed in your first game.
Must really suck to be so excited, only to have your team come out and poop the bed.
I'm just glad my Toronto Maple Leafs...
...wait...
What?
Really?
Damn. - Atomic Wedgie

I don't think any team is moving Dahlin for 3 mid round firsts and a good, but not great, prospect. Sorry.
Even if they were swap Simmonds say to Edmonton for the 9th pick, the team holding 1st overall would probably want something like: all 3 first rounders, Frost and Sanheim. Dahlin is being touted by pretty much every scout as a can't miss top pair guy, likely a true #1 and a potential Norris winner. No one is parting with that unless the package coming back is huge. - BiggE
It was just a thought.

It was good one, the thought of Provorov anchoring one pair and Dahlin the other makes me feel all tingly in all my special places, but I'm not getting my hopes up! |

I get what they were trying to do getting Elliott in the last two games, but missing two months and then thrown into the fire in the first round looks to be a miscalculation at this point. Mrazek wasn’t lights out, but a goalie can get hot in the playoffs. Elliott is at a real disadvantage here. Kinda feel bad for the guy. Hopefully Hakstol is playing his cards right and Elliott can bounce back. If not, they need to pull the trigger quickly. |

That's my guess.

Flyers need to somehow dig deep tonight and come home tied up 1-1. However, with the same lineup as game 1, I'm not feeling so confident they will do any better than game 1's beat down. - Uni-Nut
Yes. They need to. My heart says we're not in a bad spot yet as it was only 1 game, but the destruction was so complete, my head says we have little chance with the same lineup. If we're down 2 0 5 mins in, I think that's all she wrote for the series. |

What a punk Kadri is. That hit was a disgrace last night. If he's not suspended at least 3 playoff games for that this is a chickenpoop league. - PLindbergh31
Agreed. But Marchand is a bigger piece of poop and the league let's him do what he wants. If Marchand had done that, it'd be a 5k fine and that infuriates me |

I logged into the NFL online shop last December.
You could buy Santa hats with any NFL team logo - except for the Eagles.
Apparently Santa himself refused to sign the deal. |

Well, yeah, but the rules clearly state that unless you also finger the opposing player, no penalty shall be assessed.

They will write about the Flyers not having a goalie since Hexstall and the poopty fans, both are tried and true memes for the lazy media. |

Does Elliott get pulled if the Pens score 2 goals in the first? - Marc D
Depends on how they score. If one is a deflection and the other an unstoppable shot on the pp, I doubt they pull him. However if either is remotely soft, he likely gets the hook.

Seriously?
The refs triggered Kadri last night for the bs boarding call behind the net, I think that’s what led to the play where he was tossed. |
