Here's the thing with Elliot. He wasn't "thrown into the fire". He's a veteran, he's been hurt before for periods of time and he's gotten right back into it. He knows his body and if he isn't ready to play and give his team a chance to win I don't think he'd play.

So you don't think he was thrown into the fire simply because he's a bet? I've seen Eric Lindros in the 2000 playoffs against th Devils start the fourth line. Not the top line, the fourth. Throwing Lindros on the top line with the kind of health issues he had as a vet would have been throwing him to the wolves. Lindros returned and his second game back in a playoff setting was scary. I thought he was done!

In the case of Elliot, you don't get better with low expectations and most of us have low expectations because he hasn't looked right on his last three starts regardless of outcome.
