I'd argue being chippy isn't helping. Flyers had 39 hits to their 27. Gudas had 9 that game, probably a career high. I know it's frustrating getting blown out but watching Manning getting pummeled isn't going to make anyone feel better.

they actually came out with the right game plan. they really hit Letang. Got in on the forecheck. But after the first goal i think they got a little shellshocked. Next thing you know it's 3 to 0.

It's hard to get chippy when the other team is up 5-0. They had no incentive to engage in anything.

And Konecny was trying but no one wanted to engage.

Again the score is ugly but it's game one.

By the middle of the first period they were skating around like they didn't belong there. That should be on the vets. They needed to make a stand and it wasn't in them. That's just down right disheartening for me as a fan.

The Flyers need to score early.

Murray has 183 minute shutout streak. Getting to him early would be really good for the Flyers psyche.

It would probably help, just to match the depth the Pens have.

Run something like:

Raffl-G-Voracek
Weal-Couts-Simmonds
Lindblom-Patrick-Konecny
Laughts-Filp-Read

Spreads the offense through 3 lines. It would be a lot of responsibility for the young guns on the third line, but good experience for them. And a lot of fun to watch.

Again. At some point you have to stick up for yourself for your own sense of pride. This isn't about intimidating the Pens. This is about being a cohesive team and building something for yourself.

That game was lost early. Watching Lindblom take an intentional high stick and then slammed into the curved glass at the bench even on a clean check and having nothing done is not good for the Flyers. I'm concerned about my team and my players. The Pens can take care of their own.
