Don't worry Im sure he would rather stay in the KHL and travel on old planes with puke and diarrhea stained seats and bus trips vs coming to The Islanders. - nyisles7

No way should Koskinen be counted on to be a #1 goalie for the Isles. Some of the things about the bigger ice surface and playing for an All-star team can be said for Sorokin as well right? I'm not saying that Koskinen is Sorokin. I'm just not going to rip Garth on this one unless Koskinen was brought over to be the #1 guy. - ses111
I just don't see the point in signing a goaltender that can't be our starter. Greiss can hopefully recover a little and be a decent backup, but signing anyone that be a #1 guy seems like we're just pissing in the wind. |

Maybe he replaces Gibson in Bridge? I just do not know enough about Koskinen either way and I do not have the energy anymore to rip every Garth move. |

I can't imagine Koskinen is dying to go from splitting #1 time on the KHL's most talented team to starting in the AHL for $100k a year |

You have a much better memory than I do as I only remember him from the Pens fight game.

No, but in fairness I also wouldn't like any two-goalie situation made up of any two of those three players |

Here’s a thought......why not just grab your ballsack and take on of the two first rounders or two second rounders, and make a phucking trade for a real starter like Schneider or Holtby, or anyone with starting NHL experience.
Aside from the isles have a horrific 12 years under Snow and the soundtigers having an even worse tenure, the isles goalie drafting has been possibly the worst in the league. Is anyone in the media going to address the fact that in 12 years the isles haven’t been able to draft a quality starter to play for the isles. Before anyone lists Sorokin, he’s not here so he’s about as note worthy as me.
Somehow the Pens drafted Murray, and the Devs drafted Kinkaid, never mind the all stars drafted in Quick, Reene, and Price. Somehow in 12 years the isles can’t seem to draft an NHL goalie ??? |

From staples chat on the athletic about Lombardi some asked about him not wanting to come here and where I saw it
I've mentioned before that it's my understanding that Dean Lombardi won't be joining the Islanders in any capacity, though I've yet to fully find out why. I only know it isn't an option. |

When i see the names Greiss/Gibson and Koskinen, i think career back up, career minor leaguer, and career Euro. None of those three names are part of a winning stanley cup team. |

Hard to think any of these guys are the answer going forward. Isles will need to make a trade as the FA market does not seem to be good. |

It won’t matter man. This guy doesn’t know what he’s doing. The only consistency he’s had is being a perennial loser. He’s not going to right the ship. I’ve said for years his rosters are inferior. Every year it’s another weakness. Every year it’s something else.
This past year i think i Read the isles allowed the most goals of any team in 10 years. Do you know why that is? Because 29 (now 30) other teams don’t sit on their hands and watch the fire. They make moves to try and fix the problem. Not Garth. He held onto those draft picks so tight that he let a year get away from him without adding a top dman with the Hamonic haul. |

Maybe Holtby Schwein with any luck. - nyisles7
Holtby would be wonderful, but he’d also cost the Islanders bigly. Grubauer might be a solid/cost effective option however. |

Depending on PO performance they may go with Grubauer and trade Holtby. Save a little money as well.
Might be worth paying a price to get a true #. I think this team should be done with the retreads and go out and get a true #1 again even if it costs you.Greiss is a capable
back up.
Halak was a good pick up when he came here but the FA goalie market isn't good this year.
But all this doesn't matter if Snow is the GM and Weight is the coach which I'm still holding out hope isn't the case. |

I would think the Caps would want to hang onto Grubauer as well. Isles need to finally bring in a true #1 and Greiss can be the backup or Koskinen. I think it's time to move on from Halak. |
