they had a 1C , it was galchenyuk , 6'3 200 something pounds , could score 30 goals, instead the combined bs of Julien and Therrien messed with his head. - Alexzanki

I think it was a mix of situation and mismanagement. He came into the team when they were in full playoff contention and wasnt ready to be a top line center or even a 2nd line center due to his inability to play defense and his propensity to jump into the offense too soon and leave too late. So rather than develop him like he needed, they just put him on the wing. Each year he was given chances at center and each year he put up points, but his defensive play never matured.
So he wasnt given a real chance to develop, but the team felt they were in contention and letting a young guy struggle and potentially cost you points was not on the list of acceptable losses to the team.
Edit* he should have spent time in the AHL... a single year could have changed everything. |

I don't blame him for blaming the players. most of them did suck all year.
I blame him for assembling such a group pussies, for not finding a #1C in over 6 years, for his loyalty towards the scouting dpmt..... and I could go on and on.
Just listening to him talk, you see he can't think straight. sorry for the following Pete, there's really no other way to say it

A swam song Pete. Baring him signing Tavares or some other major move, MB should be on his way out soon enough. |

Tima again for the EE(m)P4L, the one true determining factor for hockeybuzz to determine its most knowledgeable hockey fan as well as its biggest losers.
Here is a reminder of the rules:

-You can get points for the team and points for the number of games however to get the points for the games you must have gotten the team right.
Points are attributes as such:
ROUND 1: 2 pts for the team, 3 pts for the games, total of 5 pts per series
ROUND 2: 3 pts for the team, 4 pts for the games, total of 7 pts per series
ROUND 3: 4 pts for the team, 5 pts for the games, total of 9 pts per series
FINALS: 5 pts for the team, 6 pts for the games, total of 11 pts for the series
PICKS FOR A RESPECTIVE ROUND MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE PUCK DROP FOR THE FIRST GAME OF THE ROUND.
PICKS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY SENDING ME A PM
There will be 2 prizes awarded for the pool:

But seriously, watch them get off to a slow start, he fires Julien and hires Vigneault and still keeps his job.
I think he caught Molson with a sheep.. |

Brandon Smillie: Bergevin Was Right About "Attitude"/Effort + First Round Predictions! - Brandon Smillie
what a waste of time the post mortem was yesterday. an owner stating to us fans that this season was unacceptable and that next season, the fan experience at the bell centre is going to be improved. whooohooo!! what a load of b.s. Molson and his focus groups should go take a flying fuk! and this g.m.? never has anyone taken so long to say so little. the lowlight had to be that his team building mantra since day 1 "character" has resulted 6 years later in a team with a "bad attitude." I've never heard such horsecrap in all my years following this team. if there was a "bad attitude" it was a result of bergevin's failure as a g.m. his team knew from day 1 this season that they weren't close to good enough. it wasn't the teams attitude that was the issue, it was that the team lost their collective confidence in management. pathetic!! |

Ryan Johansen was traded from Columbus due to character/attitude. PK was rumored to be traded from Montreal for the same reasons.
Both are the #1 Center and top Defenseman for a team that just won the presidents trophy and Stanley Cup Favorites. Also, reigning Western Conference Champions.
The same team drafted Eeli Tolvanen 30th overall last summer as he slipped because of character questions, and now he’s a top prospect in hockey.
Skill and talent wins hockey games. Not character and attitude. Sorry |

congratulations to Carey Price for getting a hole in one today on the links & Golf Canada has already labeled him as the "best golfer in the world".
Wow, that's a pretty big accomplishment for a guy who has never even won a tournament to be labeled as the "best in the world", that sounds very similar to his NHL career.
