The Flyers are the only team where, if the Pens were winning 10-0, I would want them to score an eleventh goal. If they were winning 11-0, I would want a twelfth goal. Even with the Capitals, Rangers, and Bruins I would want the Pens to let up and play defense the rest of the game. The Pens just have to beat them.

Although I have some earlier hockey memories (including watching a game in Jan/Feb of 1985, when I was in first grade and Lemieux's rookie season), my earliest "clear memory" was of the 1989 playoffs when the Flyers won in seven and Hextall chased Rob Brown around after he scored.

I also remember the 97 playoffs, seeing probably the weakest Pens team of the 90's being dominated by probably the best Flyers team since at least the 70's. It was painful - for that and for the fact that at the time everyone thought that would be how Lemieux would go out.

I remember the 2000 series, when the Pens got out to 2-0 lead but then their fortunes changed after losing the five OT game. I had just graduated from college at the time and had not yet started my first job so I was able to stay up and watch the whole thing. The ending was quite painful.

Finally beating them in both the 2008 and 9 playoffs was great. The 2012 series was a circus because it was two teams in the playoffs not playing true playoff hockey. It didn't really matter who won because whoever did was going to lose in the next round (and did), but it still would have been nice to beat them again.

I recently turned 40 and got a bottle of 40 year old wine. It was very expensive due to being aged in a wine cellar for 40 years. As old as that is, it is not as old as the Flyers' last Cup win . I don't want to see a Flyers Cup win in my lifetime. I didn't care about the Eagles winning (it was certainly better than seeing the Patriots do it again) but please, no Flyers championships.

If only the Flyers were not allowed to buy out Bryz. If only...
