Goosebumps. I know I am biased, hockey is my favourite sport by far. But there seems to me that there is so much more emotion to the SC playoffs than any other championship sporting event. In NA anyway.

I agree. But compared to, say, baseball, it's hard to "play harder" a lot. Sure, maybe fielders make an extra effort on balls or guys really try to leg out those triples, but it's hard to pitch or bat "harder." With basketball, I think it comes down to playing "smarter" than "harder."

Football and hockey are the two sports where guys really take it to another level in the playoffs, because the physical nature of the sport lends itself to being able to do so.

This is actually the safest I've felt about Malkin's line in a while because he has two of the team's most responsible wings on his line. Our 3rd line is probably more of a fire wagon line.
- Tojo.

When I think of the those #2 lines competing I think more of Philly's wingers being able to match Horny and Hags intensity rather then the straight up skills match up. Also, it's new territory for the rookies. Could take some time to adjust (I hope).

No team has won the three or more Cups in a row in the era of 4 rounds with best of 7 games. The first series was 5 games during the Islanders run and even shorter for the Canadians who had byes during the best of 3 preliminary round that took the field from 12 to 8 teams.

What about the Flyers 5-peat in the early 1920's?

It's a little different for me this year. I'm kind of looking at this year as a bonus. Being B2B champs would make it a whole lot easier to take. Sure their trolls will come here puffing out their chests......and that will only last until they lose in round two (just like the last time). Meanwhile we'll all know we've got 5 cups since they won their only 2. Not to mention their cups were won before Disco music was all the rage.
- madmike71

Yeah a part of me knows that I can fall back on B2B cups if they bow out in these playoffs but the other part of me doesn't want this train to stop at any cost. Its insane they repeated in the first place and its truly special in this sport but Im hungry for more and besides, getting eliminated would feel really strange now..

Same here. Impossible after the last 2 years to get too down no matter what happens. I do think they have a real chance. Should make ECF. I'm still not sure if I like the Pens or Bruins more, but the Bruins have a much tougher road with Toronto and at Tampa and are beat up already so that might be more then they can overcome.

Nashville or if they get past them Winnipeg are the teams I fear the most.

Are you trying to tell me that:

1) The Flyers didn't exist in the 1920's

and

2) The NHL Stanley Cup playoff format in the 1920's was not 4 rounds with best-of-7 games?

Because if so, I don't believe you.

I really like watching the other series because there's zero anxiety involved in doing so haha...just awesome exciting hockey and the outcome matters not to me.

I wonder...

Devils will play without fear or pressure until it gets to a series deciding game. It's the Devils series to lose in my opinion.

I don't believe the Flyers exist whatsoever, pretty sure its a myth created by EK... but aside from that, I really really shouldn't have to give NHL history to people.

So I'll be lazy and just link you to your wrongness for part B, I am not typing it out for you.

That link is a myth created by the NHL to hide the dominance of the early 1920's Flyers teams.

Oh God damnit... a sarcasm battle... I am surprising not up for one today, so the idea that you think I can be wrong is an illusion, as was this entire mini debate that occurred here today.
