it's because most people in canada either played hockey themselves or know someone that did. it's very relatable. yes lots of awful things happen all the time but the more one relates to a tragedy the more it'll affect them.

It is nice that people want to help. I guess I am just tired of all the social media campaigns and posturing. Schools in my area (Trenton) are having a jersey day on Thursday. Why? Why do we need all our children mourning? They have enough anxiety with life as it is! Someone else is doing a social media campaign to have everyone put a hockey stick outside and take a picture and post it. Why?

Perhaps our current epidemic of anxiety, depression, and mental disorder has something to do with the constant stream of negative stories that we must comment on, mourn with, act on, donate too, etc...

Just my opinion.
