ROR gives the standard cliche answers and we female dog him, then he is very open and honest about playing for a dreadfully bad team saying that he had no fun at all and we female dog him and call him a quitter...

Sounds about right... Get the pitch forks and torches out...

- hehateme

Tell me you can't see the difference between him and 15's comments.

It's really not a big deal. But part of the package that was supposed to come with O'Reilly was leadership. He has none of it apparently

Seriously, what do you want us to do, hug him? It sounds like he needs a hug.

Can you blame this fan base for being resentful? We don't trust a damn thing that comes out of their mouths anymore, and for good reason.

Enough with the lip service. They lost 57 times this year, and after every loss, so and so "has to be better". No sh!t, Sherlock.

As we say on this site, Read more, post less. Well, how about, talk less, play harder.

"Are you a has been who's over 30 and in the need of a change of scenery? Well, if so, you're in luck because the New York Rangers are hiring. We're looking for some to tie up our salary cap for the foreseeable future. Benefits include 8-11 million dollar salary, lack of accountability, and all the sick level you can handle.

I'm just not sure, you can't leader Larsson, Girgensons, Nolan, Pouliot into being competent players. You can't leader McCabe and Bogosian into not getting hurt. Pominville went on like a 40 game goalless drought and as bad as the defense was the goaltending wasn't much better

The New York Rangers are an equal opportunity employer, Zack Bogosian and Zdeno Chara are encouraged to apply.

ROR, the guy supposed to lead the Sabres before Jack was ready - "We're stuck in this mindset of just being OK with losing," O'Reilly said Monday. "I feel it, too. I think it's really crept into myself. Over the course of the year, I've lost myself a lot, where it's just kind of get through, just being OK with just not making a mistake. That's not winning hockey at all, and it's crept into all of our games.

"It's disappointing. It's sad. I feel throughout the year I've lost the love of the game multiple times. You need to get back to it because it's just eating myself up and eats the other guys, too. It's just eating us up, and it'

Eichel - "You can't sit here and feel sorry for yourself or feel sorry for the team. We've got to take the next step and honestly it starts now in your preparation for next season....we have to communicate a message to our fans, our organization, our city that as bad as things were, we're going to change things around here. It starts with the guys in the room. It starts with me.. it's been a tough three years but I'm fully invested in this team, this organization, this city. I'm here for a while and I'm excited about it. I'm excited about the future. Things will get better"

- TheSabresTaco

He should be excited about the future... He no longer makes a bare minimum in the NHL but now 10M a year. Hope it translates into something more than the bigger checks every game.

Didn't even bring up Moulson, Okposo, Gorges. Guys that are supposed to lead were terrible. Jacob Josefson what the hell was Botterill doing there

I dont blame him for being frustrated...but this is like Duchene last year. Teams a dumpster fire and you quit on the team. Fight through it and try to be the solution instead of "not love hockey at times"

I dunno just was curious bc he played this same act in colorado too.

- DDM-Coga

If ROR quit like Duchene did, he did a hell of a job hiding it as he produced at almost the exact same level he has in virtually every other season.

As much heat as ROR is taking (and as one of the better players on the team, rightly so), you're right. There are others that can be blamed. That list is disappointing.

And shoddy goaltending didn't help.

Josefson wasn't too the 11 minutes he was healthy, but I am not from the camp that suggests that Botterill doesn't deserve criticism. "B..b..but he just got here". That's fanboy speak. He had high roster turnover and delivered the worst team in the league.

C
- sbroads24

And yet, if the inside knowledge shared earlier is true, Eichel is a crybaby on the ice and in the locker room, but because he said the right thing, give him the C?

The reality is every player is at fault on a last place team, as we know.

It's amazing how he produced based on everything he said.

To be fair, there's a reason places like Tampa are a destination for players now, as they can walk around without a soul bothering them, there's no media to worry about, and the weather is amazing.

Then what? It's not going to fix anything. Put another guy in his place so we can watch him struggle while being surrounded by no talent ass clowns? This team is way broken. They are 7-8 years out from competing. They need to just let the fire smolder.

Trading Ryan O’Reilly would be better for the franchise we could get pieces to help us someday become a contender by the time we are in the playoffs he’s going to start declining let’s not forget he started playing at what age 18

Plus this organization is moving into a faster type of game he’s not going to be able to keep up

Ryan falls into the same category as a lot of our top6. They aren't horrible, but they just haven't brought home the results for along time. Trade them IF it drastically improves the team. I'm not trading RoR for picks or prospects that may or may not pan out. If we can't get that, fine, keep him. People act like he's a net negative.

Idk what everyone was expecting this year. I certainly did not expect it to be this bad. When your biggest free agency acquisition is paying Benoit Poliout a shade over $1M you can obviously tell it’s a transition year. Yea we had a lot of roster turnover but 80% of that were fringe NHL players that were really brought into helping the farm. Idk what everyone was really expecting Josefson, Griffith, Benoit, Stevie Moses to do. Antipin was a dissapointment but other then that we got what we paid for. Botterill wanted a year to assess what we have, mission accomplished with a top 4 pick on its way to help.

ROR is not the problem people... The lack of real NHL talent on this team is. WE SUCK.. Could you imagine if we took another 60+ points off this team.. What are you going to replace it with? 60 point guys don't grow on trees. Plus this player does not take dumb penalties and is the NHL's best face off guy..

I could see how his comments were taking. I get that. however try to walk a mile in his shoes. You come to work every night and you know that you don't have the talent to compete. You are almost sure that your are going to get boo'd in front of your home crowd. All the National media outlets rag on your team...I'm depressed just thinking about what these players have to go through.. They play for the laughing stock of the league... Good lord its a miracle they still have their sanity...

Serious question. O'Reilly has obvious skills, but where does he fit in, in this league? Is he a true #1 anywhere? It he a worthwhile #2 at 7.5 mil? Can he carry a team to even the second round of the playoffs?

Beaulieu was a low risk move that didn’t pan out but allowed for Guhle to further develop his game on the farm rather then rush his progress. Chad Johnson was a respectable back-up signing which gave us the production that we essentially paid for. If anything Botterill is a genius for this season, not a failure. Long term > short term. No moves made this past offseason were winning us a cup. Better to pick top 5 then force mediocrity.
