There are more scrubs then talent on this team and it gets worse by the year. Our top 9 is horrible aside from Eichel, ROR and Reinhart.

I agree with this. Drafting one of the top wingers would help that. Having Erod up the full year and him continuing to develop will help that. Bailey and CJ Smith are the wildcards in all of this, Sabres need them to take a big step next season and lock down full time roles and produce. I look at Grabner in free agency to fill a middle 6 LW role for the team as well.

The bottom line is LOSING and LOSING almost all of the time, put the blame on the organization as a whole not just ROR because he spoke his mind.

What do people expect these players to say after every time they lose a game, it;s the same interview and response, " I need to be better, we need to be better as a team". Same stuff over and over, year after year. You're damn right losing is taking a huge toll on these players, ROR and Eichel are speaking the same thing it just comes across differently. There isn't much to say when you keep losing.

You've made a bunch of good points aboot Ror.

He seems like the "major change" this team needs.

but OVERALL...
We are adding a lot of
-talent
-SPEED
-fresh attitudes

Yeah, we still had some sh!tty games in the 2nd half
But we also beat Tampa, Toronto & Boston-
without Eichel & Kane
And we had a number of other impressive victories as well (Toronto again, the Caps, etc)

So while i get everyone’s frustration...
I’ve also seen signs that this team has a chance to make some major improvements

Does that mean i think a guy like O’Reilly should be “untouchable”
No, absolutely not
But he’s a good player
And imo, there’s ppl on this board who are WAY too harsh on him

Especially with this leadership BS

Why didn’t the Sabres name a Captain this year?
Imo, it seeems obvious that they want Jack to be that guy but didn’t think he was ready

So where’s the outcry for our golden boy to step up?
Seems like he’s getting a pass, while everybody dumps on O’Reilly

Of course the locker room isn’t great
We were 31st
And while ppl wanna say a bad locker room is a product of a lack of leadership...
I’d say the lack of winning is the actual cause of a bad locker room

And u can be the best leader in the world...
But that’s not gonna make our guys more talented passers or shooters
And yelling at them, i mean “holding them accountable” doesn’t make their skill level raise either

I’m not saying leadership doesn’t matter
I’m saying that it’s WAY overblown on here
I’m saying our biggest issue is lack of talent
I’m saying we have a lot of talent coming
And finally,
I’m saying we are moving in the right direction

I know another finish 31st makes it seem like we aren’t...
but adding EIGHT talented young players is gonna help

Now if there’s a good trade to be made in addition to adding all the young guys...

I'd take either or. Just that you'd have to move assets for Athanasiou where as Grabner is a UFA.

I don't think Grabner would cost top $. Especially if you show big interest at the beginning and get him signed before the top guys go off the board.

Another day of people honestly thinking that bringing back this group largely intact is a good idea? JB will squash any thought of that tomorrow.

That would hurt forsure, although Svechnikov and Zadina aren't a bad consolation prize. Missing out on all 3 would be a huge failure.
