Flyers started the year with 37

And? They'll start this year with around 40 and end up close to 50 again.

I can't believe more people aren't loving the idea that Goulbourne could be gone after this season.....yes I am saying that tongue in cheek.

Too many people worry about things that Hextal probably is already accounting for.

Why does the draft lotto not take place until the 28th?

This week is really the perfect time to do it.

fun fact, i actually missed the lottery drawing last year because the channel listing just showed "playoff hockey game" and not NHL draft lottery

While the Flyers are not a favorite to win, I don't think the parity is as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be. We have a lot of guys that are peaking right now, playing thier best hockey. Giroux and Voracek are having monster years. Patrick has finally taking that raw skill and is getting "NHL timing" so he is looking like a monster. Despite Konecny being a defensive liability his offense can spark the team bigtime.

This team just needs to come out and expose Murray early. Get in his face, rattle his cage. This penguins team isn't as deep as years past, and we gave them fits during those years.

We need to take game 1 and set the tone for the series. Let them know we will not go quietly into the night.....

On a little different note, does anyone else feel like we got the best guy between Hischier and Patrick? Now that he is healthy it just seems like Patrick has the ability to take over a game where i am not sure Hischier has that. Just from what I see. Hishier has great talent, just think Patrick can be more a dominating force with the way he plays.

I think if the first two games are split the Pens will get tight. That could make this team very dangerous.

I was thinking about this Saturday. I really like Patrick's game. I think he fits in this city. I'm not too sure Nico would.

Both are going to be outstanding players moving forward. I'm happy with who we drafted.

Unfortunately, the 1st round of the playoffs, ticky tacky calls are still made. I feel like not until the 2nd round do the referees let em play. Pittsburgh will draw penalty after penalty and blow out the poor Flyers.
- Pixote Andolini

Pretty much how I see it.

Heck, the Preds had at least two goals called back in last season's final that I thought clearly should have been allowed. One was the first goal of that series. Forsberg goes "offside", the play moves forward, which led to a Subban goal. Pitt challenged. It was lengthy but they called it back and I think most of us ever saw an offside.

So am I. It was just something I was thinking about because I have watched some Devils games. Patrick just seems like he could have more impact on a game then Hischier.

Pretty much. It’s not like he’s taking ice time away from anyone nor preventing us from signing one of our own players.

a contract and a mil if you bury him in the AHL. If that is the biggest mistake, we are good...

We will see how Hexy does now he has cap and a good team.

I am actually disagreeing with you BiggE. While not a fan of the matchup I have a feeling all the hockey the Pens have played this past years is going to catch up to them and Murray hasn't been that great.

Not saying it will be easy but i think the Flyers bring this one home.

- J35Bacher

they can. a split in pittsburgh is pretty crucial imho.

I always wanted Nolan over Nico, but it’s still early for me to tell. I do however think each player was perfect for their club. We needed a big center who could be the 1C one day. And the devils needed some “skill” and perhaps more speed. It all worked out

Kudos to the Rangers for not being able to wait a day to fire AV. Almost went an entire regular season with no coach firings.

Yup. I'm very happy with Nolan. Kid is really coming along. He has some serious puck skills and is only going to get better.

And it's pointless asking "what if" for us anyway. We were always getting the guy the Devils passed on. Let them sweat over comparing the two for the next 10 years.

I would have been elated with either but I will say we needed Patrick's size IMHO

I have a good feeling. maybe the hockey karma goods will throw good luck to the Flyers. The Devils and Blue jackets sat key players to avoid the Pens it seems so maybe they get burned. They lose and the Flyers take the Pens out.
