The Flyers can always make room for a contract if need be. I actually see only 4 or 5 of the guys on both lists combined that I think might have a chance at a future with the big club
- landros 2

Same

I think Hagg, Morin, Wilcox, Martel on the RFA list. I am not sure about Stolaz or Lyon but you probably keep just one to pair with Hart. I think Leier could possibly get squeezed out with some of the prospects coming in.

I see possibly Manning(depending on cost) and McDonald(AHL captain) as possible UFA's resigned.

Unfortunately, the 1st round of the playoffs, ticky tacky calls are still made. I feel like not until the 2nd round do the referees let em play. Pittsburgh will draw penalty after penalty and blow out the poor Flyers.
- Pixote Andolini

I don't think Pittsburgh blows them out of the series, but I do think one game will get ugly, with respect to the disparity in special teams proficiency.

FWIW flyers are significantly better at drawing penalties based on the stats from this season

Flyers are +40 and Penguins are -6

- YuenglingJagr
The Flyers had 3 more PP's in this seasons series vs Pens.

Future yeah, but next year I would expect at least 9 of that list to return, plus 5 guys from Juniors

It's also not really true. Flyers are getting pretty close to the contract limit. They will be in the high 40s before free agency starts.

I doubt they hesitate to buy him out if they need a contract spot. Should be a non-issue either way

- YuenglingJagr

they have 40 signed with 4 sliding so 36. Hagg, Leier, Goulbourne, Lyon, Martel, Morin, Stolarz and Wilcox are all RFA's. so even if they decided to sign all of them that is 44. that leaves 6 more slots to sign prospects and/or free agents to even get to 50. I think they are fine.

Got to remember they also could find a FA from another team that didn't get a QO.

Yes, they are fine. My point is that they are getting close to the limit so there isn't much of a point in keeping a guy you wont use. That said, the org and players seem to like him, so maybe they'd want him in the AHL if he cared to go there

and you can't buyout players during the season, so you want room to sign guys at the end of the season and account for injuries

Lehtera should be bought out first. The buyout period is shorter, and paying $5m in salary for a crappy 4th liner/bad PKer is a waste of money.

Pure guess but I think one of the RFA goalies gets moved at the draft or in the offseason. Someone will give up a 5th rounder for goalie depth. Unless they would have one of the guys play in Reading. I just don't see both returning to the Phantoms with Hart expected to be in Lehigh.

But Weise is cheaper and his money is already running into 19-20. I don't care about next season

Don't agree.

He can be a serviceable role player. If you upgrade he can sit and fill in. But I would rather have his deal end this year instead of having dead cap space for 2 years. Especially since they are fine cap wise next year.

Game 2 if the Flyers take game one in Pittsburgh
- J35Bacher

As always in the seven game series, first game is huge. If we can steal it, the series will probably go 7. If Pitt easily gets the first two games, might be a short series.

Although Elliott got the shutout last game, I'm very worried he's not gotten enough of the rust off. If he lays an egg and it's musical goalies between he and mrazek look out. The series could be over in 5.

Hope Elliott is ready, but he hasn't looked locked in like he did when he was hot.

I am not as worried. A little. but I think he will be fine and i think he brings a calming factor to the Flyers compared to the other goalies.

Completely agree about the calming factor and he's our best option imo.

Just hope he's gotten enough of the rust off. Rebound control has been iffy so far. Not his fault, as he's been out a while, just what I see.

The majority of teams get close to the limit every year depending on your definition of close. I think there around 5 teams in the entire league who at 45 contracts or lower this season.

Why does the draft lotto not take place until the 28th?

This week is really the perfect time to do it.
