We may actually have a 2nd PP if he and Sanheim stay on it. Thought they looked great last game
- YuenglingJagr

I didn’t get to watch the game sadly. Was in NYC doing a drinking bar crawl / scavenger hunt but when I watched the game recap they showed PP2 and I had to do a double take seeing Sanheim and Simmonds on it. Was thrilled. Glad to hear they looked great!

yes and i hope it continues even more so in this series

hope Hak doesnt try to clamp down or change the style

- Crimsoninja

I don't think he will but ultimately in my opinion Hakstol wants to play a more aggressive brand of hockey.

At the same time?

I'm not even mad. That's just impressive.

Well, when Manning is on the ice, yes

I have Filppula on Malkin. Couturier on Crosby...even though I'm more upset at Coots than Mrazek on the Crosby game winner the last time we played them.

I agree, although I think we only saw one or two shifts of them together. Personally I would put Simmonds back on the first and Patrick on the second.

During the 2009-10 season, does anyone remember Carter center Briere and Hartnell? They were also a the first PP unit with Timonen and Richards on the points. What was interesting to me about that PP was the cycling between Briere and Carter on the left half wall while Hartnell acted as a screen alone (unlike the current double screen we play from the high umbrella). I actually would like to see if Patrick and Konecny could cycle the same way as skilled players, with right handed shots on the left half wall.

It seemed like once the PP settled and set up. If Briere was on the half wall, he would make a play. If Carter and Briere cycled and switched places, Carter would shoot.

Holtby can comfort himself with that money he got from those Geico commercials.

Makes sense, if he falters they can go to Holtby. Nice to see a guy getting rewarded for his good play.

@davegisaac

Just spoke with Ron Hextall about this. Said Morin is still another 10-14 days away. Noted, “I’d really like to see him play in the playoffs."

Believe that lines up with game 3 or 4

It’s clear his psychologist can’t comfort him. The same psychologist for Carter Hart. Hart will never be comforted with the Philly fans. We are DOOMED

I would try something a little different. I’d match Couturier against Malkin as much as possible and try to have the Provorov/Ghost pair in the ice whenever possible against the Crosby line.

That makes sense because I'm not comfortable using Fillpula against either player if Konecny and Simmonds are his wingers. That is the downside to that line. On the road though it might happen and I'm okay with Patrick getting some time against them. Bound to happen.

Last game in Pittsburgh, Sullivan pretty much matched up his 3rd line with the Filppula line. Didn't have Konecny on the line, but Weal did have a 3 pt game that game
