Fair enough. I don't visit many others.
I visited the Pens just to get a feel, i walked away know percentages about who will win the cup. That chart, those colors... so pretty. - ggunky
I forgot whose blog it was that I accidentally clicked on once. Every other paragraph was littered with promotional links to buy crap. Some of these blogs are just weird. Cough Garth Cough.
I used to like the Blackhawks guy here but I think he was replaced recently? I didn't recognize the name the last time I stopped over there. |

There is such a lack of insight in the Pens blob. I see the stats and charts and percentages and zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Ohh sorry, I was dozing off there. He basically takes work from other sources places it in his blob and posts it. - ggunky
yeah im not really going to disagree here at all. obviously the bloggers gonna do what he wants to do, but its rough at times. he is a pretty good writer when he wants to but anymore its all charts and graphs to prove preconceived narratives. its tough when you just want something to actually read. at the very least its just a platform to discuss things.
you guys are very spoiled with bill. tremendous writer who puts out quality work on a basically daily basis. |

If it makes you feel any better I think the Pens are poised for an easier rise through the East this year than the past two.
We have no PK or steady goaltending, not to mention couldnt beat you all season. Caps can't get over the hump, Boston is beat up beyond belief. Leafs are too young. Tampa is probably the biggest threat. Jersey is good but Idk how they'll handle themselves in the playoffs with little playoff experience on that team. - hereticpride
i dont consider it a formality by any means that the caps even get past the blue jackets. oddly enough, the jackets are who i wanted to face the most.
the flyers are very hot right now and playing loose and with a very well (frank) it why not us attitude. the pens have the depth, but much of that depth no longer has the yearning for it that they did before.
the first of the last two runs, there were seldom pucks or battles they didnt win, top to bottom. they were controlling entire games. last year, crosby/malkin/kessel/guentzel all played lights out simultaneously with great shooting percentages.
this year, while theyre technically deeper with letang and brassard, the top to bottom hunger simply isnt there. im hoping they prove me wrong and the light switch goes on in the playoffs, but you never know. bottom line is if the pens dont get amped up for the opening series of a cup defending run against their biggest rivals, they dont deserve it anyway. |

If I was a Pens fan I'd be nervous. It's going to be a tough series. This team is way different than the one that played most of their games against Pittsburgh in the regular season.
For once, this Flyers team can score outside of the top line and move the puck reliably. |

(I posted this earlier this season, but wanted to post at the end). This year, I made point predictions on each player I thought was going to be in the top 9. Here is what my predictions were vs the actual production.
Name G/A/TP (ES Points) Actual points bolded
Voracek -23g,45a,68p (32 ES) 20g,65a,85p (50 ES)
Giroux - 15g,50a, 65p (40 ES) 34g, 68a, 102p (66 ES)
Simmonds - 29g, 26a, 55p (27 ES) 24g, 22a, 46p (28 ES)
Couts - 20g, 26a, 46p (40 ES) 31g, 45a, 76p (62 ES)
TK - 15g, 24a, 39p (31 ES) 24g, 23a, 47p (44 ES)
Patrick 12g, 20a, 32p (28 ES) 13g, 17a, 30p (22 ES)
Weal - 13g, 20a, 33p (28 ES) 8g, 13a, 21p (18 ES)
Filppula - 12g, 25a, 37p (30 ES) 11g, 22a, 33p (27 ES)
Lindblom -10g, 10a, 20p, 2g, 4a, 6p (5 ES)
w/ Lindblom, I thought he would come up and get 45gp, but he only got 23.

I guess. Most of those totals were rebounds from 2016-2017. I don't think anyone expected G to get to 100 this year, or Couts to go close to a ppg. Missed on Jake, as well.
I was pretty close on a fair bit of players. |
