since 2012 they have drafted 12th, 8th, 16th, 2nd, 2nd, 8th and 8th. to still be the worse team is hard to imagine - nastyflyergirl
I admit I was all over G when he wasn't producing last year. Once he got healthy and you could see the turn around of he and Ghost, I laid off him and agreed that surgery really (frank)ed his season up. I knew nothing of the recovery time on that surgery until I saw it.
It's why I am loving Patrick right now. Knowing he went through the same thing and is now blossoming. It's a joy having the kid. |

In regards to this would you maybe try to sneak/double shift guys like Voracek/Couturier/Giroux onto your 3rd and 4th lines at times to maybe help with an unfavorable match-up. Can't do it all the time but maybe at a spot you think you could get burned? - J35Bacher
i think time/score/situation will(should) decided mixing/matching - late in periods, up or down by a goal...
hak doesn't strike me as a guy who worries about that so much....or he is simply playing the guys he thinks can get the job done regardless. |

If the situation holds from their practice:
I already see the Flyers pretty much going 2,2,2 on each of the first 3 lines to spread out the wealth to match the Pens - DeflatedPucks
And I think that was the main reason for the move of Konecny to the 3rd line. He adds speed and skill there.

Key to the series is to win games. Win more games than the Penguins and they have a pretty good shot at winning the series. - Streit2ThePoint

I do too.
But there will be some of that extra stuff. And we have seen guys like Malkin, Crosby and Hornquist get dragged into it. - J35Bacher
yes..but he's a little guy unlike a hartnell who could handle that stuff if necessary. i just don't want him getting injured in any extracurriculars. |

Interesting phrase. The first I heard it was from Ken Hitchcock when he was here. Does to go back further that that? - 77rams
not sure. he might have been the first. |

I got the phone update that they had their "expert" predictions up and I was ready to laugh at the clean Pittsburgh wins series predictions. I wanted to laugh when I saw it be one person pick us. 1 of 14 I LIKE OUR ODDS! |

I'd like to see Konecny back on the first line. I feel he'd give G more room to maneuver and vice versa.
Raffl can fit in on the third as easily as he can on the first. TK seemingly has to work harder to be effective on the third. I hate to see his much needed offensive potential stymied even the slightest. |

the whole thing is horrendous. jfc. i still haven't seen anything about what actually happened except the truck t-boned the bus. - hammarby31
Based on limited description let out to the public, and photos being released, it appears that the bus struck the broad-side of the semi trailers. It seems at this point like the semi failed to stop at a stop sign from a rural grid road, crossing a highway that had right of way.
There are other smaller details when looked at closely, like a row of wind-breaking trees on the property bordering the intersection that also make it somewhat blind for drivers.
Living here, you can't escape this, even if you stay in your house. Every form of media, and every room or place you walk through, someone is talking about it. Quite sad. |

I think Flyers/Pens is a lot better matchup than some do if Flip's line doesn't get killed
If they break even, I honestly think the Flyers can win this series in 6. Pens defense doesn't scare me, and I think special teams are gonna be a wash
Flyers aren't perfect -- not saying that at all -- but I truly am looking forward to this series with both teams being on equal rest. I'd have to look back, but I swear it always felt like the Flyers were on a 3-in-4 or the Pens had full rest before playing them in the regular season
I didn't mention goaltending because I just don't know what they're gonna get from either side. Don't think Matt Murray's been anything special this year. Elliott's been better than I have seen him in previous seasons. He's who we have, so you roll with it and take your chances |

Plus two games with Mrazek/Lyon as our tandem. Love the bravado from Pittsburgh fans. If the upset occurs their tears will be sweet.
I really do see TK-Filp-Simmer being the x factor. Pittsburgh is who they are we have the unknown with that line. Coots line vs Malkin line and Patrick line vs Crosby line will be interesting. |

They've done such a good job not taking ridiculous penalties, for the most part. You just gotta stay out of the box against them

Not true. Any of the flyers-pens games this season were always the 1st of a back to back set if any (only 2 of the flyers games vs pens were b2bs). In fact, the flyers have had a 2 day rest prior to any pit-phi matchup
And in general this season, Pens have had 19 b2bs, Flyers 12 b2bs. Pens had 9 3-in-4 games, flyers had 10 3-in-4 games. pretty equal
Edit: in fact, the pens have only had a 1 day rest before every pens-flyers game this season |
