It will be a great series but I'd be pissed if I was a Florida fan.

They have 1 more win than flyers (could have 2 if they win today) and are out of playoffs because the league rewards teams for losing. Unlucky I guess.

Ah yes, the song remains the same. Discontent. Uneasiness.

It's the Pen vs Flyers.

AND.

It's the playoffs.

What could be better?

Is he projected to play C in the NHL? We're good right now, but after next season we'll need organizational depth at C.
- Victoro311

He is, he’s been playing top line centre minutes in the WHL and he has 2C potential in the pros.

Which of my statements is wrong?

Giroux had a better year than Crosby.
Malkin had a better year than Voracek
Kessel had a better offensive year with 96 points vs Couturiers 76
Couturier had a better defensive year +34 vs Kessel's -10.
Ghost had a better year than Letang and it wasn't really close.
Provorov is better than any other dman on the Pens.
The Pens have a better d corp 3-6.

- opeth_pa

First of all you can’t compare centres to wingers. Crosby and Malkin best Coutourier and Patrick. Kessel and Hornqvist vs Giroux and Voracek is pretty much a wash. Simmonds and my home town kid Konecky are decent but the Flyers don’t have much after that. Provorov and Gostiesbehere have never played one playoff game and the playoffs are a whole different animal. Any team trying to play Amac, Gudas, and Manning isn’t going anywhere.

I didnt say Giroux was better than Crosby becauae that would be stupid. Giroux had a better season than Cosby .

I dont disagree then when you get past the top line matchups the Pens have more depth. As I have said all along I think the top players on both team will be a wash for the most part. I think Ghost and Provorov will produce more than any Pens dmen but in the end, the Pens depth will allow them to win.

- opeth_pa

Yea as always will be a fun series, and yea the top two lines should be a wash the major difference will be Brassard and Kessel on the third line. When did you guys move Voracek to the second line? Thought he was playing with Couts and Giroux for the most part.

That is where I think the Pens will win the series..
I think Giroux, Voracek, Couturier vs Crosby, Malkin, Kessel will ultimately balance out.
I think the Pens win because of the rest of their forwards this season.

Voracek was moved about 15-20 games ago.

I agree. I think Provorov/Ghost and Hunwick/Ruhwedel will ultimately balance out.

Voracek was moved out much longer ago. For the majority of the season. Konecny has been on the top line ever since we’ve been playing better up until a few games ago. Simmonds has dropped out of the top 6.

This is going to be a long series I believe ultimately won by the pens. Should be fun

I just think the combo of depth + cup winning goalie and coach might be too much for a young team like the FLyers to overcome as much as that sucks being a Flyers fan..

Ill also say if Hunwick/Ruhwedel balance out Provorov and Ghost the flyers are in a world of hurt..

Ghost was 3 in the league in scoring from defensemen and Provorov tied for first in the league for goals by a dman.

In my opinion the biggest factor in any game or series against the Pens is the combo of Sid and Geno. One thing we don't always get to see is BOTH of them catching fire at the same time.

IMO, you can sit and argue stats back and forth all day long, but if Sid and Geno come out with their A-Games at the same time there's literally no tandem in the NHL that can compare or handle them.

Sadly, it doesn't happen that often. It's usually one or the other, game by game.

I don’t know. With the pens in the playoffs it just seems it’s the kuhnackls, the Shearys, the rusts that makeup the difference. Can’t take that for granted. Many teams don’t have it

Depth is always paramount in the NHL, but the Sid/Geno dynamic is very different. I mean look, the reason beefing up the 3rd line is because it doesn't happen often.

G, Coots and from December until about a week or 2 ago Konecny.
TK was moved to the third line with Simmonds and now its G, Coots, Raffl.

Second line is one of our top rookies , Oskar Lindblom, our other top rookie, Patrick and Voracek.

TK, Simmonds with Filppula on the third.

I loved how Edwards said Reimer made that save on the breakaway "by mistake". What a f'n douche.

Somebody could lose an eye on an ugly high stick from a Marchand and Edwards would interpret that by saying the opponents eye recklessly attacked Marchand's stick.
