Are Simmons stats top of the league ?
- wcorvette

no, but he's a t-dub machine. He could be a 25-30 pt 10-12 rebound 10-15 assist player in his prime, especially with Embiid around to pass to

I don't know how the Kapler thing is gonna work out, but I do want to see him get a larger sample size of games before I'm ready to string him up.

I mean, I know those early losses were ugly and had some bad optics, but I do admire that he had a plan, based on data. It just didn't work out. I realize this puts me in the minority, but I need to see his managerial style play out before declaring failure.

- johndewar

The early hook of Nola isn’t something I agreed with, but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one. Calling for a reliever who hasn’t warned up though, that was just moronic.

But yeah, let’s give him a couple months and see how it goes. One bonehead mistake isn’t a reason to fire the guy.

I will never agree with what they did. Still a disgrace to sports.

But they did what they did, are winning. If a person is fine with how they did it, they enjoy this a bit more

I forgot Cox on my list

Love Cox. #BBC

- PhillySportsGuy

I didn't think of Cox either. (lol) Nice call. I put him under the 4 guys I named though to round out the top 5

I think 25 is probably the higher side of what he'll average in points. He'll probably win a DPOY award at some point though. He's already one of the best defensive players in the NBA, which is probably crazier than his triple doubles.

I hate that a dude that got his job because of nepotism will possibly benefit from the success of this team.

Who is the best player in Philly right now, all 4 sports
- wcorvette

Tough one. Case could be made for any of Wentz, Cox, Giroux, Embiid or Simmons. Though when they are truly on, IMO, it’s between Wentz and Embiid.

Something is wrong with him. No question.

Trade him. Or strip the A at a minimal

Other NBA teams are dutifully following the same model.

He's a mismatch across the league. My favorite thing about the Deadspin piece on Fultz's jumper where they interviewed Herb Magee is that Herb gushed about Simmons without being asked. Herb is a billionty years old and has seen it all.

He controlled play last night against the presumtive Eastern Conference finalists.

I think people need to rethink how the Sixers are gonna fare in the playoffs.

- johndewar

They're playing their best ball at the right time. It comes down to the Raptors, Sixers, or Cavs in the east now that Kyrie is out of the picture. The Sixers would have thrashed the Cavs last night had a) the cavs shot not out of their minds in the second half and b) the Sixers went cold in the second half. Basically, if both teams shot more towards the middle of the bell curve, that's a 15+ point win WITHOUT EMBIID and with Saric playing his first game in 2 weeks.

That team has a legit shot at representing the eastern conference.

I'd probably put him 4 as well.

There are so many young players on the Flyers/Phillies/Sixers that the list could change very rapidly

He has that potential if he develops a mid range J. Other than that he'll be looking at something lower, but hey he dropped 24 on the Cavs last night playing around the rim

Doesn't bother me at all. Totally serious. Not scared of the Pens. Recognize what they have done, recognize the talent.

But i will relish the opportunity to play them, with each team on equal rest

Yup
Though after thinking a bit more, it has to be Wentz right now. He was the best player in the NFL in only his 2nd season. The way he keeps plays alive and just makes things happen is just ridiculous.
