Think Gallant is a huge reason, loved him with the Panthers and really wished the Rangers were looking for a coach when they dumped him at the curb and called a taxi. - mdw7413
I was interested in Gallant and some Isles fans treated him like Cappy. |

McPhee was really beaten over the head with that Forsberg trade like no GM ever made a bad trade. - ses111

This team needs someone with a resume IMO. I'll take the big gun slinging, swinging dack any day. That doesn't necessarily mean they're signing players to bad contracts. No more guys learning on the fly as far as I'm concerned I'd take Lombardi in a heart beat. - Cptmjl
I'll take Lombardi in a second bad contracts and all. |

Yeah, but those were somewhat different eras. I know it wasn't decades ago, but the game has evolved a lot over the last 5 or so years and I want to hire someone who's on his way up, not an older guy that may not be totally tuned in to the needs of today's NHL. - eichiefs9
Snow has been there for all the transitions.
He’s brilliant! |

"Only Hall of Fame general manager Bill Torrey accomplished more consecutive seasons of increased point totals, seven (1972–1979), in his overseeing the dynasty of the New York Islanders into the early 1980s" |

So you're saying that Lombardi doesn't know what it takes to succeed in today's NHL? Even Mike Milbury as a commentator has a handle on it Jesus the whole world knows save for our current moron GM. I think you may be holding onto that old timer stigmata a little too much with Lombardi. Doesn't matter anyway there's a blizzard approaching next week for Islander fans - Cptmjl
That's not what I said at all. I didn't say he doesn't know anything and would be terrible. But I'd prefer to hire someone based on their potential, not Stanley Cups that they won 5 years ago with teams they assembled 5+ years before that. It's irrelevant because someone already pointed out that Lombardi doesn't want to come here. |

Lombardi built two teams and Garth cannot even build Bridgeport. |

#Isles agree to terms on a two-year, two-way deal with Swiss defenseman Yannick Rathgeb, undrafted free agent who did spend two seasons in OHL before playing last three seasons in Swiss-A. Six-foot, 185 and a right-handed shot.
Don't like that this guy is still signing people |

- eichiefs9

Not even worth the money. Just stop watching, stop going to games, stop buying anything islanders. Putting up billboards shows interest. They don't even deserve that if they keep Snow in any capacity. |

I get it, but I would say that AGM's probably do just about everything the GM does. I'm all-in on Fitzgerald. He and Shero went into NJ and took over a team devoid of any actual talent and turned them around in a few years. Not just the NHL roster either, they have done a good job restocking the prospect cupboards as well. |

What the (frank) is up with the penalty minutes? 38 to 115! to 18?
Did he murder a guy on the ice and fight the entire opposing team? |

The fan reaction will be very interesting if Garth is coming back next week. Fans are going to want to top the billboard whether it helps or not. Going to be a lot of upset fans. |
