He had 15 in 60 games
- TheSabresTaco

That was Nolan magic. He's been playing with Eichel for a while now and he rarely even threatens. His goals are super fluky. That shorthanded one was a weird bank shot on the rebound. Idk, i don't see it personally.

They had a log jam at d, they wanted to offload pominville, and they liked Foligno.

I'm actually surprised that people don't like Scandella. He's probably the most natural athlete on the backend imo

- jcragcrumple

Log jam at D. Why not trade Brodin, Spurgeon, Dumba then ? Do I need to spell it out for you ? He’s a meh hockey player. He doesn’t hurt us in the back end, nor is he a top 4 d-man on a good team. McCabe can do the same thing. Scandella has more trade value on the open market. So bye bye Scandella

I'll eat both of my shoes if he's not on the Sabres from day 1 next year.
- TheSabresTaco

Didn't know Tacos had shoes. Learn something new every day.

You may be right, he could end up being on Jack's wing next year for all I know. While I've been impressed by his talent, he needs some development...he's looked lost in the D-zone a couple times recently. IF he has a big summer, he could be a shoe in, no pun intended, but I'm not sure we're there yet. Has he earned it?

Housley keeps playing him there and talking like they are impressed by what he brings. I wonder if Jack asks for him for some reason. He got unsung hero, the guys in the room seem to like the Lion Eater more than we do.
- RhinoFan

When girgensons got taken off that line 2 months ago, before he got put back on, Housley said on WGR that he and jack talked and decided they needed to go in another direction.

I don't think Eichel wants him there. Would anybody say that Girgensons brings the best out in Eichel?

Check out the quarter-by-quarter production when his linemates change out. It's clear that Girgensons is weighing him down.

That said playoff team deemed him invaluable enough to be traded. What did the Wild win with him in the top 4 ?
- Pegullaville

His value wasn't of the top pairing variety, and top 4 are much easier to acquire than top 2. We got a salary dump and a later pick in return. Let's not pretend he didn't have value. MIN had one too many dmen and have their top 4 in Suter, Brodin, Spurgeon and Dumba. Paying one of them to be on the bottom pair would be ridiculous. On top of that, they wouldn't actually be able to afford it. Factors in that trade were cap space and talent, as well as the chance to prove he could play top 3 minutes. Jury's out on that, and sometimes he's actually very good up there, but not consistently.

I fail to see anything wrong with him being a fixture on the 2nd pair on a good team. And I bet Botts thinks the same thing.

The sole reason he is here right now is because the org wants him to learn about life in the NHL and what's expected of him. Clayton Keller went through the exact same thing last year, now look at him.

Respectfully, save your judgments until he has a full offseason and a full training camp. Looking lost sometimes is part of the process right now.

As far as earning it? I have no doubt he will earn it in camp.

Hopefully the experiment is done. Good link, I am starting to dig into that site more often, but you're correct Girgs doesn't do it. I was tempted to switch Nylander and Girgs, but honestly who else is there? Outside of a FA acquisition, there's really no one ready to take that spot. Even if we are hopeful and think Pu or Olofsson can make a big jump and play this upcoming year...putting rookies on the top lines rarely goes well.

Good point. I don't think I'm harping on the kid too bad, just that he needs some time to marinate. He's a hard worker, so can't say he can't do it at camp. Time will tell, he needs to be a very good player for this org or we're in even worse shape.

Bailey would be fun to at least try. He's faster than Girgs and brings more physicality. I know he has some consistency issues, but his ceiling his higher.

Still disappointing that Baptiste never got a shot with Eichel this year

Resign Kane

*hides*

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind JVR, Nash or Perron, but Maroon I've always heard talked about as a product of environment and not actually that good. Grabner would probably be higher on my list just due to speed.

So much, yes. Baptiste should get a shot and I know feelings are mixed, but why not put Nylander with him for a game? What do we have to lose?

Why do some fans peg Nylander in the Sabres starting lineup next year? I'm sure it's based on being a high #1 draft pick and being the younger bro of Alex. Go to some Amerks games... He is not a standout...When I see him play I don't say to myself that kids going to be an NHL star someday....I hope I'm wrong but now I see a third liner at best maybe in a couple of years....

Desharnais could be a cheap option that would bring some versatility as to C/LW throughout the lineup. Very low cost a la Pouliot

His game is more suited for the NHL than the AHL I truly believe he’s just one of those players that produce at a higher level
