Like to see Belesky play, would be nice to see him be the gritty, sandpaper player that he used to be...

I also heard about it, Peter, some hours earlier after Ken Hitchcock spoke of the tragedy, which unfortunately, did involve multiple unannounced then fatalities. The team was in route to a playoff game, after having lost their previous one in triple OT to trail their Jr. League series 3 games to 1, when their bus accident, I believe, occurred in a collision with a truck.
The franchise dates back nearly 50 years, and is ranked best in the overall history of the Saskatchewan Jr. League in most championships won. One time Rangers defenseman for a couple of seasons in the mid to late 1980's, in Curt Giles had played with the Broncos. He played for the Rangers after having played previously elsewhere in the NHL, including with the old Minnesota North Stars.
The accident brought back to me in sad relation, some bad memories of that disastrous 2011 airplane crash, which killed the entire Russian Lokomotiv team & coaches/staff, plus the flight crew. That tragedy included taking the lives of some former NHL players, including two former Rangers in 1990's defenseman, Alexander Karpovtsev, who first played for them on their 1994 Cup Championship team, and late 1990's Rangers d'man in Karel Rachunek.
I send my thoughts & prayers as well to all those affected by this horrible tragedy.

maybe we'll get lucky and Blackhawks will beat Jets tonight

Jets have nothing to play for and will probably rest lots of guys including Laine

So, as the last game of the approaches, I’m struck by the unfortunate notion that the team rebuild into the next 3 years will feature a 37 year old goalie making 8.5 mil a year, who is clearly the spokesman and leader of the team. It doesn’t work.

Now, before you go off on me and my”hatred” for Hank, who has had an illustrious legacy and will someday have his number 30 hung from the rafters. However, if anyone thinks the Rangers rebuild has any chance of succeeding with Lundqvist as team leader, the I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

As I evidenced by the improvement in play of JT Miller since being shipped off to Tampa, and playing with the likes of Stamkos, superstars should be forwards, not goalies.

I found Larry Brooks comments interesting the other day, when writing about the unlikelihood of Taveras signing with the Rangers, he said that if that should happen the club would surely have to deal Zibby or Hayes to make room. No, that’s not how great teams are built. The old adage that you build from the goal out, is as passé as flip phones.

What do the following names all have in common.?. Matt Murray, Corey Crawford, Tuka Rask and Anti Niemmi.

I truly wish the Rangers well at the draft and if they feel it necessary to sign a free agent or two. But as i said before, noting really changes until #30 is retired.

I get it. But, IMO, it’s just a waste of time to complain about Lundqvist and his contract. He isn’t going anywhere. He isn’t retiring and walking away from the rest of the money on his deal. He isn’t being traded, he won’t be bought out. What to do? Ignore the team the next 3 years until he is gone?

Well you take a superstar in any form. A leader should be, IMO, a forward. Although that could be obviously challenged through some pretty vocal and impactful D-men through history.

As for Miller, he's still taking dumb penalties and making some bone headed decisions. His "improved" play is the same reason Vlad played on that line. I'm not saying JT doesn't have talent, but he needs elite talent to make him more effective. He was never going to be a player to put a team on his back.

Pretty much, yes. When AV said the other day during his presser, “you tell him he’s not playing”. That doesn’t bode well for the team or AV.

It’s not a complaint, just a statement of fact, as how I see it.

All true, the point is, forwards must be responsible, but they are paid to put the puck in the net. He’s doing that now because of the talent he’s playing with, not because he has found his game. Not saying much for yet another Ranger 1st round draft pick.

Namestnikov in 62 games playing with Stamkos and Keucherov had 44 points.
Miller in 63 games getting jerked all over the lineup with the NYR had 40 points.

Miller in 18 games with Tampa has 17 points.
Namestnikov in 18 games with the NYR has 4 points.

It’s not even close.

Did anyone see the flyers panthers tie break thing? Something that if the rangers win 4-2 today and Florida wins last two games, they have to play Tuesday as a play in game for the playoffs. Like all the tie breaks would be the same. Not sure if it’s exactly 4-2 or a two goal loss for Philly. Anyway, legrecca was talking about it and it has never happen before

Not sure I understand. Miller was supposed to be one of the leaders of the team, as he is no longer a rookie and a 1st round draft pick.. Players get jerked around the lineup all the time. The point is, no one on the Rangers made Miller a better player, because there isn’t anyone on the team to do that, as Stamkos does that for Tampa. That’s all I’m saying. If your comp. says the same, I agree.
