he's a -1.41% adjusted xG player over the last 2 seasons on buffalo. It's not a good sign when you can't even move the needle in the right direction on that catastrophe of a team

Ristolainen is very meh..for someone who has a decent reputation his D results are frightening

he gets like half is points from the PP..but gets killed at 5v5 ...it would be smart to move on from him

You can't adjust for 1 guy being leaned on for every tough spot and 1 guy being used as just the opposite. IMO Gardiner's had maybe 10 games in his life ( last year at the end ) where he's used as a shutdown D, this year he plays with the Matthews line A LOT and he's a negative some how.

I wouldn't say Risto is great...but the stats are a little misleading IMO.

I would at the very Least expect a "#1" dman to hold his own on a crap team and it show up in the stats. He doesnt

He gets a lot of points..50% on the PP .. you didnt suggest it but the Leafs only use 1 D on the PP, Rielly and Gardiner do fine..they dont need another

His reputation and what people think he is outweights his overall impact and Value in the game
