a win in playoff series will not like a 'real win' (like vs boston/montreal/ottawa/philadelphia/pittsburg/nyr or any other team which have some significance) and when you lose, it's even worse

Honestly, I'd rather the Leafs face the Bruins, than Tampa. We seem to have a proper strategy to beat the Bruins (in the regular season lately at least), but I agree with your assessment of Tampa and Toronto.

Your blueline is better than ours currently, goaltending could be even if Vasilevskiy finds his mojo (I hear he's been struggling lately), and it's arguable who has a better forward group. It would be a good series, but I would definitely be worried we'd get beat.

I think he might actually be saying he doesn't feel a rivalry towards Tampa, so it's not as sweet to win a series against your team as it would be someone like Boston/Montreal/Ottawa/Philly, etc.

Which is true. I don't hate Tampa, so while I'd be happy if we won a series against you guys, it'd probably be more meaningful to win a series against Boston due to history and rivalry, etc.

Actually - at least I enjoy seeing Buffalo fail every year.
Can't even say that of Tampa - pure indifference.

If we hated every team with a star player that was rumored to be coming to the Leafs and then didn't, we'd be angry at just about every other team in the league.
