Being the points leader on a team with a mediocre to bad supporting cast really doesn't lend itself to your argument of him "floating around".

Guys like the other are STILL talking about that draft lottery and the ONE still frame of Connors face... he hates it here so much he signed on for ten years. You want to beak the GM for his awful moves, that's fine but stop regurgitating old garbage about the Draft Lottery.

meh. You mean pass up on a semi-guaranteed 120 million dollars over 10 years? Hmm.. seems smart.

He would have been paid the same anywhere he decided to play. When you are the uncontested #1 player in the world you have that choice.

Yeah, I get that... but...

1. He would have been an RFA soooo he wouldn't have been able to decide for a few more years.

2. As the best player in the world signing their first big money contract, are you really going to sign a 3-5 year deal with the possibility of getting injured, preventing him from making BIG money the rest of his career? I get that being a competitor and what not, but you always have to prepare... had he not signed that contract, and get's Matt Cooke'd or something... there goes what... 10+ years worth of salary? By signing the 10 year deal now, if he gets injured, he's still set for life (and family/etc.)

Seriously, are the Oil looking to replace Costanza or not? I think if he doesn't see round 2 next season (providing he's still employed by the Oil), hes gone - no idea how many years the Oil have left on his sentence/contract. (That sentence was a harsh mutha (frank)a right there, murderers have got less time than the Oil with Costanza) I wonder if the NHL need to rehabilitate the Oil after Constanza has been released?

14.6 (maybe 15 because it doesn't kick in until next season) mill per year was the maximum when he signed. I think there'd be other teams that would of done that to have him for 10 years.

This is a great attempt at a troll. I thought for a second it might be serious, and then I realized that no one that knows anything about him, could possibly think this.

He really is. I hate to say it, but barring becoming an injury-ridden player, heā€™ll probably put up more points than Sid.

That being said, I donā€™t think heā€™ll accomplish what Sid has done. While he pulled a Rob Brown with Patrick Maroon, Iā€™m not YET convinced he can elevate his teammates the way Sid does.

Iā€™m not sure he is the type of leader other Stanley Cup captains have been, but obviously itā€™s still too soon to tell.

Matthews on the other hand is someone who screams big game leader.

Chiarelli is a disgrace, but this is a stupid article. McDavid is the most talented player in the game and Draisaitl is a stud as well. Their supporting cast could be a lot better, but it's not garbage. Look at some of the poop teams Crosby and Malkin had and they only came close to missing the playoffs once in the last 12 seasons (let alone finishing as a top 4 seed almost every year). The fashion in which they missed the playoffs this season should remove him from Hart contention. He'll get his Art Ross and a few others.

PS that tweet is ridiculous.

Agree. Constanza (frank)ed up a trade or 2 but the team isn't bad. I don't think Talbot is as good as some want him to be, & the D was missing Sekora for a large chunk of the first half but the team isn't poop. I'd say change another coach as the Sharks went pretty well after they arseholed the coach.

Mcdavid should not even be in the top 5 canidates. This guy has put together his Hart trophy campaign when his team was down and out, playing stress free meaningless hockey. PPG start of season to Feb 1st 1.10, PPG Feb 2nd until now 1.57

Heā€™s the same dude attenpted to discredit how good Raanta is by saying he was only good this year... after years of being really, really good behind really, really iffy bluelines. With the McDavid schtick, heā€™s either a master of sarcasm, or literally the worst troll ever seen on this earth.
