I mean...kind of hard to buy into this theory considering the Devils won two draft lotteries in the last, what, 6 years? |

It’s voted on by media. They are suckers for a story. So I can see it happening. Especially if he has big games the last two. |

Dangerous to agree and say "I want the defending champs" but I do agree that they have weaknesses. I think their D are really suspect and Murray let's in some bad ones.
That being said, they are the champs and they are playoff tested. Careful what we wish for... |

Yeah, stir elsewhere. Outside of the Kovalchuk contract debacle the NHL doesn't really screw us over. Sure, we don't get a ton of attention or press, but I think that was actually how Lou envisioned it when he ran the show. |

CBJ and New Jersey both win their last two and that is your first round match-up. Pittsburgh-Washington probably in the first round. That would be fun. |

.. we traded a #2/3dman for a top tier forward. We traded a 2nd/3rd line forward for a top-pairing offensive dman. Winning. I liked Henrique, but Vantanen is what we NEEDED, and he's bringing much more to this team than Henrique was. We do miss Larsson, but I think puck-movers like Vantanen are harder to come by, and more difficult to acquire. So we upgraded on D, and heck yes, Hall is an upgrade over Henrique lol.
I knew Vatanen would be good offensively, but I didn't think he would be this good on both ends of the ice, and that his compete level was this high. He was getting pushed down the depth chart in Anaheim, so I was a little nervous. we really scored big with Hall and Vats. |

You are right, though at the time I wished we plucked Lindholm from the Ducks but I love Vats grit. Perfect for playoff hockey.
So apologies to Vats. |

Add in winning the lottery for 1st overall and being smart enough to take Nico PLUS the gift known as Will Butcher and we've been fortunate. I'd include getting Mojo also. It hasn't worked out as well as hoped but it was a really good move... And if you do that getting K Palms was a heck of a score for pretty much trading away Jagr. (not exactly a direct swap with picks and all but pretty close). |

Been a fan since I was a kid, but became a season ticket holder since 2011. Used to be half season, then after the 2012 cup run, we decided to go full season. Looking back, man those were some tough times from there to now. In the grand scheme of life, it's a blessing to be fortunate enough to watch 41 home games in person, but from an entertainment perspective, man it was tough.
If I couldn't go to a game, it was getting harder and harder to get people to take free tickets from me. Guys like Tootoo and Stollery getting PP time, hoping guys like Gelinas and Matteau would take the next step, bust free agent signings like Brunner and Ryder. My god have they come along way and quickly at that.
Big props to Ray Shero and his team. Regardless of how this all finishes, what a season of entertainment. Tons of exciting goals and storylines to watch unfold.
Clinch that spot boys! Need me some playoff home games! |

It's actually surprisingly possible for the Devils to end up with home ice in round one. If we win our last two and both CBJ and PIT lose their last game in regulation (they play each other next so somebody has to win), we would end up #2 in the division if my math is right. |
