So now they can blame the fans for JT leaving too.

Botta really should have given this one more thought.

You assume Botta has the ability to think.

“People have been very supportive, our fan base has been tremendous ever since I got here,” he said. “People say certain things. I hope it all works out too and I’m back as well. That’s all I can really control right now. In the days and weeks ahead, we’ll have plenty of time to think about it and start looking at the future.”

I get that Tavares is the low-key king of formulaic answers, but they're starting to not even be relevant to what he's talking about. "That's all I can really control right now"? He controls the entire situation, and has since the first day he was eligible to re-sign. The team foolishly gave him that control, and his quotes sound like his whole situation is out of his hands and dependent on, say, what the team ends up doing with Brock Nelson, rather than the other way around.

Maybe it's different in private, but publicly it's crazy to read quotes about him not even using all this time to think about the decision while the organization gets painted further into a corner as it puts everything else on hold.

Well imagine being peppered with the same question 5x week for an entire year, everyone's answers would probably start sounding a little nonsensical after awhile.

Chris just needs to stick to the Garth and Ledecky type blogs.

Come on, Botta. You're better than this. You don't even believe this drivel you wrote. Load another excuse into the chamber.

This is more like an old Botta blog. Maybe he is trying to fit in with SNY?

True, and it would get pretty boring after the first week of answering the same question, that wasn't really UIF's point (I'm sure you get his point). His response probably isn't even germane to the question. I don't think they asked who had control of the situation. JT does hold all the cards. I agree with UIF, and my guess is you do to, that Snow gave JT the control and power by allowing him to "mull it over", "think about it" or "consider all the options". Most of us agree that he should have been traded by the deadline if he wasn't signed. Perhaps they have a gentleman's agreement in place whereas JT will sign. Don't know, but you'd think we would have heard something about that if it were true.

Perhaps. It's just lunacy that he'd write that. Show up & let JT hear you. He should have wrote show up & chant 'Snow must go' all night. JT's already got 1 foot out the door and Snow will still be the GM.
