I'm pretty sure that's the first use of the word "juxtaposed" by anyone in these parts not named Bill Meltzer.

- johndewar

That's because most here probably think it's a typo and should be "just supposed" lol

i'm incredibly disappointed by the league's actions, especially juxtaposed to their public message of protecting its players. it's a joke.

It's worse than that...the league loves Marchand. They promoted the hell out of him at the AS game. franking aggravating

You would love him too....if he was a Flyer. Regretfully I know I would.

A little off-topic off-season discussion:

Chicago is once again going to be screwed with their cap and like most off-seasons they will have to move someone just to get by...Brandon Saad.

The Flyers will be in great shape this off-season with their cap and the following year signing Provorov/Konecny. Obviously it all depends on cost, but I wonder if the Flyers could poach Saad for a reasonable price. What that price is, I don't know. Maybe a 1st, maybe a Myers or Rubtsov or maybe something totally else.

Saad can score goals, but would be a great addition to the PK. A bit pricey for his down year (6M), but is only 25 with 3 years remaining.

Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
Lindblom-Patrick-Voracek
Saad-?-Simmonds
Weal-Laughton-Raffl

Lehtera
Weise

Pretty solid top 9 to compete with the big boys. Who could center the 3rd? Depends on the camp from Frost or Vecchione or players get moved around. Plus Simmonds could be moved in the off-season for some assets, which I highly doubt. Expectations will be higher next year and soon the team will have to spend to build a winner.

The Hawks will move Hossa's deal to the Coyotes much like the Flyers did with Pronger. The Hawks need to revamp that defense. Seabrook is killing that team.

Nope. He'd be on the list of Flyers I didn't like. It's not a long list, but it exists.

If that happens, someone needs to step in and take that franchise away from the current owners and move it to a real city.

Agreed. Dude is a straight up punk. Can't stand the type of player he is. Constant dirty plays and never answers for it. Rinaldo was dirty but he always answered for it.

So this is a confirmation Hossa will be traded to Arizona without a doubt?

$6M for 3 more years, and we'd have to give up a 1st or top prospect to get him? No thanks.

NHL Player Safety

@NHLPlayerSafety
Boston’s Brad Marchand fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Philadelphia’s Andrew MacDonald.

There goes the NHL trying to deflect responsibility again. Just suspended the (frank).

Actually, financially it makes a lot of sense. Hossa gets paid less than $1mil per year the rest of the contract. His cap hit is $5.275mil per year. That $4mil they don't have to spend. Same reason they did the Pronger deal.

No. But it makes sense. Also, the Coyotes have already executed a similar trade(Pronger) in the past.

It's pretty likely.

Man, they're really in bad shape. It's like a better version of Detroit.

Yes, I understand the financial aspect. But they're allegedly running a hockey team, not a home for wayward contracts.

Before he was hit by MacDonald's clearing attempt, Lehtera had two chances to clear the zone and failed on both of them.
- Feanor

I just watched the replay again, once Simmonds turned it over, lethera went for the puck but there was also a Bruin there, who appeared to get there just before lethera. Then the puck was pushed forward and AMAC threw it off Lethera, it was knocked to Manning who promptly passed it go Bergeron.

Simmonds owns this one for sure but 3 players could have bailed him out and failed, the least of the 3 was lethera, AMAC could have done better and so could have Manning.

I agree. However, Hossa allows them to save a lot of money and not use up a roster spot after they LTIR him every year. The Yotes are not the most financially sound team. No real risk honestly.

That's an understatement.
That team needs to be moved and sold to a real owner.

And Datsyuk in 2016.

Though it enabled the Yotes to move up 4 spots and nab Chychrun, so not too shabby.

They'll also likely acquire a better asset than they give up in the deal.

Serious question. Would you do Crawford for Elliot? Crawford has two years left at $6mil per. He is 33. Is he better than Elliot? If it was straight up I think I would. IF the Hawks wanted anything in addition I would say no.
