Eichel needs a proven NHL goal scorer. A guy that doesnt have the best hands, and has caveman like tendicies. The player should be strong and fast, and prefer to go north-south vs east-west. He should have a shot first mentality and we should check his 5on5 production and stats twice a day to keep him in check. Even if he has some flaws we should sell the farm for him.

Going forward, it’s mandatory for our D men to skate behind our net with their backs turned in order to draw 5 minute majors. With this new development I expect the Sabres to compete for the postseason next season.

That's fine, I don't try to slam advanced stats down anyone's throat. Even to the eye test, the PP is different. RoR has more PP points than Sam, but it's the same PP. Sam is a big part of goals, even when he doesn't get points. It's all really Jack's PP though. He creates the entries and opens space. Everyone else is replaceable.

With that contract, is it really unrealistic to expect that? Rumor has it, that's what he thought he was ready for in Colorado but he was buried down the depth chart.

Turns out he was slotted correctly in Colorado it appears, he hasn't stepped up and performed at the level he can be, he was lauded for his leadership and I don't see it. Leadership isn't just about owning your poor performance, it's about not tolerating the floating this team has done. Gorges never did, but he doesn't have the talent to lead. ROR was supposed to bring that, was paid like it, and didn't do it.

Here is what I see though, a MODEL of consistency whose production I'll take year in and year out, he's just not paid that way. He's paid as a top player, for a while. That's my ONLY problem with him.

On Antipin:

Sabres D Victor Antipin has been diagnosed with a concussion following a hit from last night’s game against Nashville. Antipin also suffered facial lacerations, a broken nose and dental injuries. He will be out indefinitely. Antipin will travel with the team from Nashville today.
