Gotta say, should we really be worried about defense more so that goaltending?
12 times this season where the first shot goes in. That completely deflates any confidence within the defense. Talbot has been overall, abysmal this entire season.

Defensively, Sekera was injured for the first half of the season and the fact that you don't just come back from an ACL injury so easily needs to be taken into account.

Then there is the whole Klefbom thing with his Shoulder.

If there is anything positive look for defensively this season, it has been Nurse and Bear. Nurse for obvious reasons
- EdmHockeyMan[finding his defensive game primarily] and Bear for finally cracking the lineup (albeit late in the season), and looking like a possible NHL'r with some more seasoning and development.

I'd be okay with leaving the defense as is honestly. Focus on using assets to get some middle 6 depth and/or a top 6 whether through FA or trades. This would bank on Klefbom coming back healthy and in-form, and Sekera getting back to his normal self, but both are very plausible, in fact, likely. But next year around, we'll have a Nurse on duty and a Bear waking up from hibernation.

-Talbots signed for another year and shown he can play high end 1.
-tending is a volatile position by nature. There are very few high end goalies that haven’t had weak seasons.
-No one potentially available is undoubtedly an upgrade
-We’ve got no money and a bunch of other guys to resign first.

They’ll look for a backup to take some workload off Talbot, but he’s unequivocally the guy going into next season.
