As 24/25 year old goalies on two-way contracts with some NHL experience and upside, I think they could well be claimed by other teams. Vegas claimed Subban when he went on waivers this season. Pickard cleared waivers, but he had a one-way contract with a salary of $1,075,000.
- Feanor

Subban was viewed as a pretty solid prospect at one point.

On another topic, is it fair to start being concerned about the lack of production from German Rubtsov. He’s obviously got the wheels and supposedly has very good hockey sense, but he just doesn’t seem to be putting up the numbers you would expect from a guy who is so highly rated by many scouts.

I really hope he has a monster year next season wherever he ends up playing, he’s been pretty underwhelming so far.

BiggE

I’m not sure it’s fair to be concerned about Rubtsov at this point. This late in the season, he could have a nagging injury, or he could be playing w line mates who aren’t complimentary to his game. Look what happens to guys who look mediocre until they get linemates who make them better. I’d give him the benefit if the doubt til we see him in camp and/or sone AHL time.

- Hokeeguy9

That’s what I’m hoping.

Sure, but he had a pretty solid resume, and was a 1st round pick. Did well in Juniors obviously and over 4 years in the AHL went .918 and 2.40. Waived as a 24 or 25 year old? Come on. He gets claimed every time on a cheap deal.

Stolarz is no Subban, by a long shot. And Lyon is even farther from being Subban

well they have to pick somebody to start, assuming the make the playoffs, and there's no guarantee Elliot will be back within the next two weeks. they only have 4 games left. he might get the last two, at best. If he's not ready, who do you start? It sounds insane, but i'd go with Lyon, although i think his best performances have been in relief of Mrazek. The whole thing is a nightmare. They have 4 goalies with 2 weeks to go...injuries, inexperience, and uneven play hover over all of them.

hopefully the top prospects come as advertised and aren't made of balsa wood - but hart is the only one who hasn't been injured yet, aside from lyon.

Lyon has had quite a bit of luck, especially when it comes to rebounds. As much as it pains me, if Elliott isn’t ready, I go with Mrazek. At least he’s had some extended success at the NHL level.

Just read the Courier Posts’ article about Stolarz. Seems he’s playing and hoping to get back to his pre-injury level. That would be very welcome at this point!

On another note: Any news on Sam Morin? Seems he’s been out awfully long!

I heard that Morin is going to work this Summer with Neuvirth's off season trainer.

Just looking at mrazeks playoff stats, very solid for a small sample of 10 games.

It is a pickle.

Assuming Elliott isn't ready, I'd lean toward Mrazek with Lyon coming in for relief if necessary. Lyon's lack of experience scares me, along with his unsteadiness in goal. Not that Pete has been much better lately, but at least he has some PO experience and has been pretty good.

I guess we have to hope Mrazek decides to get hot after last night's game.

Hoping he takes you guys on a Cinderella run to the cup and then you resign him because it’s the only thing that makes every one happy.

WHL: Holding a two games to one lead in their first round series with the Seattle Thunderbirds, the Everett Silvertips will be back in action on Friday for Game Four in Seattle. Through the first three games, Carter Hart has stopped 86 of 93 shots (.925 save percentage).

what a bust.

TBH, I have no idea how he posted such great stats with the way I've seen him play here. Off his angles etc an out of control. What may be possible is that he needs consistent work to get into his groove like a lot of tenders do. At least that's what I hope.

He lost a game? Time to start shopping for a long term FA goalie.
