Yeah he's starting to assert himself a bit more and actually use his size and frame to close off lanes and seal off players more effectively.
- Pixote Andolini

Exactly. He is going to be a good one

Yeah, that month-long experience in the press box was all part of his development plan.

I forgot about that. But I can’t argue against the extra ahl time this year. It really seemed to help from where he was at

Damn Sanheim looks so much better than his call up earlier. It’s almost like the flyers know what their doing

I read this board regularly. Your conclusion is incorrect.

MacDonald belongs out on the ice in that situation. I'd prefer it to be with Provorov though.
- MJL

Amac had a horrible game last night at times. He could not get the puck out when he had time and space and had many shots blocked. But I was meaning more to the pairing of Amac and Manning, Yes I know Hak depends on Amac, but you have to put your best overall defenseman out there Provorov and not Manning.

Neuvirth must have pissed off someone, because there is no doubt somebody has a voodoo Neuvirth doll perched up on their bedroom dresser.

Disagree. He definitely got overwhelmed at certain junctions and had some puck handling issues but he also battled really hard, blocked shots and made some really nice desperation plays to get pucks out of harms way. The whole Flyers roster was overwhelmed for like the last 10 mins of the 3rd. They were all hunched over and gasping.

It is shocking to me that playing helped him get better, just wait until other teams catch on

What's wrong with the Blues? I miss those Hull, Pronger, McInnis, Turgeon days.

There's some Blues fan, his name eludes me, that I despise.

Agreed on AMAC. As for Manning, I think the only reason he was out there was because he got stuck on an icing call. It was late, but I thought the announcers said that.
- hockeylover

Pretty sure tho after we finally got the puck out there was a whistle along with a timeout and he remained out right to the buzzer.

I did mean AHL goalie and the wifi is so bad at my job, I couldn't connect to fix my mistake.
- SuperSchennBros

So I guess the opposition thinks that when they lose to Lyon?

BTW his career numbers are 27-15-6 2.31 .923 so while he has predominately been an AHL goalie he has done well enough when given the opportunity in the NHL

but I am concerned about to much ice time for the twins, more than 6 minutes more, there were some long shifts but 6 minutes is a lot. I am happy with the win but this strategy wont work in the playoffs, you have to play to win...

It is not a cut on Hak, I do think he will adjust if they make it.

- wcorvette

I understand, Gudas gets a lot of leeway n
because he is the only RH dman on the roster. He makes a lot of errors. The holding penalty at the end of the first period against Yakupov cant happen. On the PK , teams are setting up along the half boards on his side and he is not pressuring or cutting off passing lanes. The PK is better with Gudas in the box.

I hope Myers has a strong playoffs. He makes Gudas expendable. I m realistic about this season, if they make the playoffs I got what wanted. Kids played and were developed, certainly not in the path I have envisioned. There is a core now present which will be the foundation for a long time. Im going to enjoy the playoff run, and hope the next wave of kids is ready in the fall. It could be worse, they could have the best player in the game in McDavid and actually down trending badly.

So, when they kept him up to start the year, he wasn't ready.
Then they recalled him and let him rot for a month straight in the press box.
They then recalled him only because of multiple injuries to the defense and he's played well.

Clearly, some genius handling.

Edit: I agree that the extra time in the AHL helped him. However, they only recalled him due to multiple injuries, it's not like they went, "Man, this kid is ready, we need to get him up ASAP."

If it's anyone, it's definitely Radko Gudas.

Hence why I said at times, the desperation plays you mentioned were because of times he turned the puck over. Many times he had time and space behind his net and would make a terrible pass or try to move the puck up the boards to be turned over many times. I remember one shift we had a ton of pressure on Col and were cycling and G dropped it to Amac at the point and he had time, he hesitates to make a play and decides to shoot only to have it blocked and Col counter attacked.

They are, but those numbers include the superhuman, impossible to re-create, once in a lifetime run he went on with Ottawa a few years ago.

Yes, he did it, but those numbers do not reflect his expected realistic level of performance.

I know right?

Sometimes a kid needs to experience the fire to fully understand what it is he needs to do to survive. But sometimes you can't really learn if you stay in the fire, you just end up burning to death.

So they took him out of the fire and let him apply the lessons in a less dangerous environment.

This way, when he came back, he was better equipped.

Im not saying it is this way for every player or prospect, but I will defer to the organization, who saw him every day on and off the ice, and made the decision accordingly.

Sorry about the metaphors......

I'm not sure what the reasoning behind this was. maybe they were trying to see if he could work through it but were not seeing what they needed to see for him to get back in the show?

It wasn't ideal that is for sure.

However, he is only 19 and we have a long way to go before the organization ruins him completely through their ineptitude.
