They've basically sucked since the 2013/14 season, the exception being the one year where they over-achieved, that's four of the past five years.

Next year I'd expect to see some of the kids step in and improve the product. So far only Boeser has stepped in and made the team with an impact, and he came from the one good year they had in the past five. Lucky pick or whatever but thankfully they took him.

Yep fair assessment. I'd throw Horvat in there too with Boeser. Barring his injuries he has still improved annually. I like where he is going. If Demko, Gaudette and Pettersson turn out to be who they can be...future looks good.

The 2014 draft is gonna go down as a disappointment with them picking Jake Virtanen 6th overall and then pissing away pretty much every other pick except Demko in some form or another.

The 2015 draft looks to be a solid draft, thankfully.

The 2016 draft will IMO go down as a complete failure by the organization, sadly. Even if Juolevi turns out to be a good second pairing guy there were a lot better kids taken after him on "D".

The 2017 draft is largely an unknown but looks to be good, don't they all, hopefully better than their previous drafts except 2015.

As for 2018, they are at the bottom of the league again and have six picks, just dreadful for this clown-show!!

Lots of time to make deals and acquire more picks.
- VanHockeyGuy

Hopefully Tanev and or Hutton or anyone to get another 2nd and possibly a 3rd

I'm hoping they make some changes this year, first don't re-sign the Sedins, second, move some defensemen.

So if we are following a pattern here
2018 should be a another bad pick
2019 should be an amazing pick.

2014 = bad
2015 = great
2016 = bad
2017 = great
2018 = ??? bad
2019 = great

I think finally we have prospects to be excited about. Sure the Jury is out but I see a similar path here forming as to what the Jets have done the past 3-4 seasons. We'll be ok.

Well OJ was ranked higher by the majority of NHL teams so Benning was not alone. Serg was ranked 9th and OJ was 6th. See below if anyone is interested:

Unless Demko becomes a top 10 starter in the NHL. It stings, but JV is still usable.

Tryamkin - Mccann - Virt - Forsling - Demko. Amazing draft. Sadly most of those assets are gone
