Think it has something to do with the amount of games he hasn't played in the NHL. Baker is saying that he really likes the Sabres though so it's highly likely that he resigns.

"The 23-man roster limit is in place from the conclusion of the preseason until 12:01 am on the day of the NHL's Trade Deadline. After that teams are allowed to have an unlimited active roster at the NHL level, provided players are signed to one of their 50 contract slots"

"Also exempt from waivers to demote a player are players who are recalled from the AHL or a Canadian Hockey League (CHL) team on an emergency basis. These players must be returned to their AHL or CHL team once the injured player returns, or converted to a regular recall, which can then subject the player to waivers if the service time in the table above is met. Starting with the 2013 collective bargaining agreement, for a player on emergency recall from the AHL, playing 10 or more NHL games while on emergency recall automatically converted the recall to a regular recall."

"During the period following 3:00 p.m. New York time of the fortieth (40th) day immediately preceding the final day of the Regular Season [trade deadline day]no Player may be Recalled from Loan to a club of any league affiliated with the NHL, except that:
(i) A Club may exercise four (4) recalls from a club or clubs of any league affiliated with the NHL, of Player(s) listed on its own Reserve List."

Casey Nelson is a "Group 6" UFA (Like Matt Hackett was)

What is a Group VI UFA?
A player whose contract is expiring and meets all of the following conditions shall become an unrestricted free agent (UFA):
The player is 25 years or older (as of June 30th of the calendar year the contract is expiring).
The player has completed 3 or more professional seasons - qualified by 11 or more professional games (for an 18/19 year old player), or 1 or more professional games (for a player aged 20 or older). This can include NHL, minor league, and European professional league seasons played while under an SPC.
The player has played less than 80 NHL games, or 28 NHL games of 30 minutes or greater for a goaltender.

Did you expect him to say they were up sh!t's creek without a paddle at the QB position and just slap McCarron in the face? I mean, really. They're drafting a QB. He knows it. You know it. We all know it.

Not really. They want to see others because they either have one or two recalls left. They sent Nelson and Baptiste down at the TDL, on paper. So that's two. I'm not sure if Bailey came up post TDL as a regular recall or an emergency. But they want to use the other recalls on Smith and maybe Nylander.

I believe Guhle is #3. So they have one left.

he really doesn't need to speak about the draft and players the bills want to draft

unless he is running the show
