Yes, a blunder that was saved by getting lucky. If they take jackson there and hes a hall of famer its still a blunder. Don't be results oriented.
- robz228

What??? This whole business is results oriented

You and I have no clue who they really like correct?

What if they have the utmost confidence in knowing their guy will be there at 12 but probably wouldn't be there at 21?

How is the asset mismanagement?

It is quite the opposite is it not? They moved up 9 spots by moving an oft injured player with a high cap hit and were able to keep all of their picks they've acquired and drafted their guy.

Now no matter who they pick and where they pick them they will say that they got their guy I am not naïve to that. But you and I don't sit in those closed door meetings.

Nobody has a clue, it is all speculation.

depends on the age he is signed his contract

If a player who is signed to an entry-level contract and is 18 or 19 years of age (as of September 15 of the signing year), does not play in a minimum of 10 NHL games (including both regular season and playoffs; AHL games do not count), their contract is considered to ‘slide’, or extend, by one year.

He is still 19 by the date...since he has a November birthday so he should be able to slide

- DDM-Coga

cool.. so are we just paying him for 4 years but getting three years

If you think trading up to 12 a month before the draft and hoping a guy you want is there, instead of trading up for a guy you want on draft night is smart then i dont know what to tell you.

that I dont know of, its slides so he shouldnt be. If it didnt slide and counted as a pro year hes he does count as anyone playing this contract year would be up for the expansion draft and would need to be protected

Nope .. he's probably going to score it at least three goals but that's about it and maybe 4A's I don't see anything crazy

Him and Jack will bond over the summer and kick some ass for the USA

It is not hope

It is their profession they know or at least have a very good idea what teams are taking what players

Why? Because you think so?
- Stripes77

No because sitting around waiting gets you the bottom of the barrel guy.

I dont understand how you can watch buffalo Bills football for the last 18 years and say, meh, they don't need a QB that bad.

They have tried to build this roster every other way possible other than the top of the draft QB.

Make the move, get the guy you want and hope for the best.

An "update" implies there is something new about it...nothing new there.

Getting a bottom of the barrel guy at 12th overall?

You're joking right?

I have never once said they don't need a QB

You guys are overly emotional about it, think rationally and you'll understand why it might not be the best idea to give up all of those picks for a guy that nobody can say who the clear cut best QB in the draft is.

Update to my original claim based on his birthday...I guess its not as easy as looking at Sept 15 and saying yeah or nah.

Well that sucks to burn a year, not sure how that impacts expansion draft in 2020 (if it happens) I think hes ok if he just plays NHL, but if they send him to AHL for playoffs too this would count as apro year for him?
