I'm in the same boat with regard to the team and not rushing hart. What happened though was the team had a crazy February that pushed them to first and got our imaginations to run wild. It's very promising but they've got way too many holes. I want them to. Ale the playoffs so the kids get the experience. It'll speed up the window to contend. I'd say in 2 years we're right there

A goalie like Dell they might pursue in the summer. I'm glad the expectations have been raised, the top 6 and top 4 are pretty good. They are prospects close to fill in the gaps, the goalie situation is trickier because a prospect isnt as close as bottom 6 and 3rd pairing help.

I dont think he gets resigned by the Flyers unless they want to bridge Konency and/or Provorov. Lindblom will assume net front presence on PP1 IMO.

i think thats fair. i think lindblom will be pretty good. i think hornqvists new deal would have to be the base i'd ask for as simmonds. someone will pay it

I'm happy that sanheim is getting time up and I love his first pass ability. Should be fine in the top 6 and I could see him on the 2nd pp going forward. I've got no real issue with hagg either. Add in morin next season and it's starting to take shape. Mac has been fine but manning and gudas are driving me nuts.

Nice they got a point. But they proved once again when its time to step up they cant get it done.Too many loses in ot or so.Cant win the big game.Just not ready yet and dont have the talent yet.Especially on the bottom 6.They will still get in i hope.

I can't see Simmonds getting re-signed. Hextall is not going to want to commit the kind of money it's going to take, let alone get locked in long term with an aging power forward.

I can see Hextall deciding to ride with him next year but I definitely don't see him here by the time the contract expires. His struggles this season only futher this belief for me.

I would dangle him this off-season in a deal for some combination of a young prospect knocking on the NHL door and a 1st. Basically the Schenn trade. I just want one player that we don't have to wait 2-3 years on in the deal.

Well I certainly hope that's the case but you can't depend on it. There's been a few people here over the course of a season that are ready to anoint the kid starting goalie with him never having played a single game beyond the junior level.

I just don't think you can rush a goalie prospect like that.

I don’t disagree.

I want the goalie situation solved, and I want it solved for the long term.

I want a goalie -- that sometime during my lifetime -- will be the starter for at least 5 consecutive seasons.

Is that kind of consistency too much to ask for? It's the only position where one guy can literally steal an entire game or series. And it's the musical chairs we've been playing since Hextall 1.0.

Yes I agree with that as a baseline. I think we 'll see Simmonds play out his contract like JVR in Toronto. As the kids keep developing, I expect Simmonds to be on PP1 and 3rd line winger, much like he is now.
Hexy cant pay 5.3 miilion/yr for a 3rd line winger. There just isn't room for him on the top 6 any more,

The schenn trade from at Louis perspective as in they got schenn who is an effective nhler or you mean get 2 firsts and a salary dump? Will be interesting what we can get. I think simmer is coveted by lots of teams and might command an overpayment

Elliot and Neuvirth both have one year left on their deals. Hextall would have to buy out or trade one of the two and it’s seems doubtful that would happen.

Lost every game to the Penguins this year. Cool.

The Penguins are pretty bad defensively. Maybe worse than the Flyers are.

Really is simple. The Penguins best players are better than the Flyers best players. And Murray is better than anyone the Flyers have in goal.

Even though he's struggled in the playoffs, I think bob was the guy. So maddening as I had read so many impartial goalie mags saying he was the answer here.

A Mac will be the last vet replaced IMO Haag is fine as a 3rd pairing. Myers has the ability to be top 4 also, certainly has a lot to prove. Sanheim is starting to develop a really nice poke check and his skating is terrific. Myers and Sanheim were really good together LV.

From our perspective. Two first round talents for Simmonds. But ideally someone who isnt going to take an additional couple years to develop, like get a 1st and a kid who is currently moving up the ranks in the AHL.

Really though, you just have to take the best offer. I'm just saying ideally I don't want to have to wait years for these guys to step in. G & Jake ain't getting any younger...

All this to say the d is sorted to me. Sanheim is bigger than I thought as well. I wonder what his ceiling is? 1-2? Borderline star who can score 60 pts?

Elliot isn't going anywhere, Neuvy who knows. Who are they going to tandem Hart with in LV. Ideally, I guess Lyon and let Stollie walk, going to be interesting

I know. It's maddening. But even since that moment--the position continued to be ignored. They got Sandstrom, Hart, Stolarz and others in the system now--but jeez. No consistency in the position since the late 80s. I mean--it's one less problem that almost every other team in our division/conference has had to deal with over my entire lifetime--whereas for 33 years, I've been banging my head against a wall thinking some new temporary plug will get them the cup.

Gotcha. I think they'd have to send him if it's 2 firsts. That schenn trade is gonna look crazy if we end up with like a 14 pick and get a solid player along with frost.

I think he has the best chance to be the 2nd best all around dman behind Provorov. Not a knock on Ghost who has fantastic offensive skills and is very good defensively. Sanheim with his size and reach is just better in the corners then him. All 3 are terrific passers out of the zone.

Well unless you're willing to get into bed with Carey Price for like 8 years idk what the answer is. Hart is going to take some time. Just have to hope Elliott can stay healthy and they can find a could guy to tandem with him until Hart gets here.

Blues picked has plummeted to 20th overall as of right now, and perhaps further if they make (and get anywhere) in the playoffs.

It was kind of an organizational philosophy. Clarke tended to focus on centres and then wasn't worried about tending which was weird considering Bernie was so big getting them the cups.

When we got jvb instead of cujo in 98, you knew it wasn't a priority and hey thought we could win with simply adequate tending.

Yeah, but you're still likely to get a decent players. I still wouldn't be shocked to see st Louis struggle the next bit and miss

They’ve invested a lot in Stolarz. I’d have to think he’ll get at least another to prove himself.

If Hart wasn't so promising--I'd consider putting a package together for a guy like a Price. Flyers have enough depth in the D pipeline to put together a package. I mean, if you had a goalie you could count on for 10 years--wouldn't you? Rather than watching/hoping/cringing every season?
